SRA International, Inc., A CSRA Company Sr Java/J2EE Developer (Backend) in Arlington, Virginia
CSRA has a great opportunity for a JAVA / J2EE Software Engineer to work with a cutting edge technology stack in a collaborative, productive Agile development environment. As a Software Engineer on this high-profile project, you will be involved in a strategic initiative to support the ENERGY STAR application in order to modernize this public system, enhance performance, and create a multi-national, multi-lingual application to be used in the US, Canada and possibly other countries. This large complex application is used internally and by the public, includes web transactions; web services integrated with utility companies, energy providers, bill pay services, and others; data warehousing with business intelligence reporting; and more. Position is for full time employment with CSRA and will be based from our CSRA office in Arlington, VA.
Key responsibilities include:
Work alongside with other Senior Engineers to develop new J2EE applications in an agile software development team using scrum and XP methodologies.
Work as part of a development team in a fast moving environment with new iterations every 15 days, communicating with Customers, Project Managers, Requirements Analysts, Testers, and other team members.
Plan sufficient time to complete debt-free code within each iteration.
Work at an extreme level of collaboration, including pairing, working in a common team space.
Participate in regular team reviews assessing each other’s performance and helping to implement continuous improvement activities (Sprint Retrospectives).
Utilize Cross-cutting experience in Java application development using Spring, Spring Security, Hibernate, Spring MVC, Maven, PL/SQL, XML, Tag Libraries JSPs, Apache Ignite, Apache ActiveMQ, and RESTful Web Services. Support Java systems deployment to tcServer.
Experience with microservice architecture style
Support unit testing with responsibilities for comprehensive unit and functional test coverage to ensure code quality.
Provide XML schema design and XML batch processing.
Utilize understanding of application of design, coding and documentation standards.
Quickly diagnosis and troubleshoot performance issues using application performance monitoring tools like New Relic
Learn new and keep abreast of existing technologies and apply to a variety of projects as required.
B.S. Computer Science, Software Engineering, I.S./I.T. or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
JAVA Development experience required
Agile Development experience required
Configuration management using one or more of the following: SVN, Maven, Ant, Jenkins, Cruise Control, CVS or Artifactory.
Versed in unit testing in java and/or groovy.
Application of design, coding and documentation standards
Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence
XML schema design and XML batch processing.
Distributed architectures, clustering, multi-module software projects.
