Area of Responsibility

Key Elements

Build and lead the retail “center of excellence”

§ Set 3-yr strategic direction to develop though leadership capability

§ Direct development of breakthrough retailer solutions and category management processes for the sales and marketing of alc. Beverages

§ Direct development of breakthrough independent retail selling method for sales and distributors teams

§ Approve and resource R&D plans

§ Ensures that solutions embedded with region sales teams through Region Chain Director

§ Ensures linkage with key functions (e.g. consumer insights)

Lead class of trade chain selling strategy

§ Gap analysis to identify strategic opportunities

§ Ensure linkage to MillerCoors channel strategy and annual customer plans

§ Chain class of trade 3-yr destination and annual operating direction

§ Cost-benefit analysis to evaluate alternate approaches

§ Direction to marketing and strategy to improve retail effectiveness

Cultivate preferred customer business partnerships

§ Build collaborative partnership with customer’s senior leadership

§ Coach channel directors, region VPs and directors on retail solutions and category management

§ Build capabilities in customer-collaborative innovation for cat mgt & shopper marketing

§ Represent Miller at board / president level of key trade associations

Build company capability in category management, retail solutions and customer marketing

§ Organizes, operates, and assumes risk for department

§ Team capability building and talent acquisition

§ Build leading edge processes

§ Create environment of collaboration

§ Lead L&D strategy for cat mgt & retail solutions, internal and distributors

§ Sets competence and application standards

Quality chain selling insights and tools

§ Develop industry-leading retail and shopper research capability (with research)

§ Direct and resource information delivery technology

§ Lead strategy and resourcing for modeling and analysis capabilities

§ Ensure information availability for chain sales application

§ Build capability in short interval business analysis & insights

Implementation of retail solutions, category management and customer marketing

§ Set clear application standards

§ Direct and approve process and service anchoring plans

§ Enable and approve measurement systems

§ Place and monitor execution resources (e.g. shelf sets)

§ Ensure coordination of support functions

Education level and/or experience

  • Seasoned business leader [10+ years] in a senior leadership role within an established CPG organization

  • Post-graduate degree is preferred

  • Experience within the beer industry’s DSD distributor network model. Ability to accelerate work flow through these systems

  • Proven experience in the effective management of change programs

Skills and/or knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of general business practices with a strong general management, financial and strategic acumen

  • Long term organizational development and leadership capability

  • Management of highly strategic and analytical projects that resulted in the effective conversion of insights into actionable solutions

  • Advanced business understanding of category management tools, resources and best in class capability

  • Consolidated understanding of pricing disciplines, demand curve analysis, price gap analytics, margin and mix management

  • Proven experience in effectively leading cross functional and multi-dimensional teams

  • Ability to synthesize and analyze multiple data points to create comprehensive channel and customer strategies

  • Solid understanding of research and modeling, negotiation of contracts and

  • Ability to leverage outside tools and resources

Job Summary:

Leads the vision and strategy to position MillerCoors as a thought leader and top CPG provider of shopper and business solutions to retail customers. Directs the group that develops the chain selling strategy and customized business-building solutions for the national and regional chain sales organizations. Enables joint value-creating retail partnerships through CPG industry-leading category management. Ensures that the chain organization has the knowledge, tools, capabilities and clear destination to deliver MillerCoors’ value proposition and “world class” retail solutions to our customers.
