The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will make vital contributions to the New Product Development (NPD) pipeline and transform patient care through innovation. They will provide technical direction to the team and design, develop, and implement electrical systems for our capital equipment products. This is an opportunity to be accountable for Design Control processes in a Medical Device for a subsystem of our platform from requirements definition and prototyping through production.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the design, manufacturing, and lifecycle of a Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) that is critical to the functionality of the capital device.

  • Document designs, specifications, and requirements per design control processes.

  • Drive the design, development, and debugging of embedded product software to integrate with mechanical, electrical, and distributed computing systems.

  • Lead root cause investigations on electrical and software related issues that arise during the prototype and production processes.

  • Own the hardware verification strategy with Manufacturing and Test Engineers to implement automated testing of the capital equipment.

  • Lead the External Standards testing efforts for the capital equipment.

  • Conform to Industry Standards for Medical Device Software (IEC 62304).

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related degree.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in a direct electrical engineering role.

  • PCBA design, manufacturing, and troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience with embedded electrical design.

  • Demonstrated ability working across subject areas with internal and external partners.

  • Strong collaboration, proven technical leadership capabilities, and conflict resolution skills.

  • A results and performance driven approach with strong sense of accountability.

  • Experience within a medical device or other highly regulated environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestic US and Internationally, with overnight stay.

  • Ability to work in Cincinnati, OH.

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience:

  • FPGA design and test experience (SystemVerilog or VHDL)

  • Design control experience.

  • Experience debugging embedded hardware systems.

  • Experience with Distributed Data Services (DDS), e.g. (RTI Connext, OpenDDS, MQTT, or similar distributed data sharing libraries).

  • Experience with CANOpen communication protocol.

  • Experience working with different Operating Systems, particularly QNX and Linux.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity threat assessment and mitigation strategies.

  • Use of Agile methodology as part of daily activities.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates in a laboratory/assembly environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

The anticipated salary range for this position in the Cincinnati, Ohio area is $88,000 to $141,450
