Overall Responsibilities

The Sr Lifecycle Engineering Manager is responsible for leading multi-functional projects of varying size & impact to ensure business continuity of Ethicon's Capital Systems products. These will cover business protection, cost improvement, and/or compliance & quality projects and product enhancements. The Sr Manager will work together with all key functions at global and regional level to support the delivery of the strategic objectives. Scope of work includes feasibility assessment through launch or technology transfer, and post-implementation performance measurement & lessons learned. Key deliverables include project scope, schedule & cost, while improving customer service, quality & compliance. The Sr Manager will provide technical mentorship and supervision to their team of up to 5 individual contributors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team to support existing Capital products including items such as part obsolescence, customer field issue investigation and resolution and production trouble shooting.

  • Maintain and Communicate Capital equipment design intent within the organization.

  • Identify, lead, and resolve critical issues to minimize impact to product availability and cost.

  • Work with external vendors to develop solutions supporting business requirements

  • Develop strong partnerships with multi-functional leaders to drive alignment and ensure efficiency and execution meet business expectations.

  • Ensure projects are driven in compliance with regulatory requirements (GMP, ISO, MDR) & Ethicon policy & procedure requirement

  • Leadership and technical mentorship for a team of up to 5 engineers.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree with (10) years of relevant work experience required;

  • Advanced degree or focused degree in Electrical /Computer Science Engineering preferred

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum (5) years product development or Life cycle engineering experience with a proven track record of accomplishment: direct association with or leading efforts to develop or support technically sophisticated products

  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry: Medical Device, Automotive, Aerospace, Aviation, etc.

  • Experience with ISO/IEC standards, verification/validation testing and creating test protocols required.

  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical, electrical and software engineering and the integration of their respective subsystems.

  • Experience leading self-directed work teams

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver project outcomes in an ambiguous environment while balancing quality, customer service & cost

  • Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills

  • Strong problem-solving and execution skills for developing creative solutions and meeting project objectives

  • Project Management experience

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Experience in complex engineering, R&D, and program management roles with medical device organizations

  • Medical device manufacturing experience

  • Project management certification (FPX, PMP)

Other:

  • This position is based in Cincinnati, OH and requires up to 10% (Domestic/International) travel.
