Keystone Foods Transportation Clerk - 1st Shift in GADSDEN, Alabama

The Transportation Clerk is responsible for ensuring that product availability meets with customer needs. This includes accurate and timely processing of paperwork and active communication about upcoming orders and entry of information in the order placement system. This position will be located at our facility in Gadsden, AL (Birmingham, AL metropolitan area) and additional responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Ensure that all products meet preshipment review requirements. Maintain an understanding of and compliance with Keystone food safety requirements.

  • Compare orders with available inventory and communicates with appropriate personnel to ensure inventory will meet orders. Send shipping and receiving information to distribution centers to ensure that shipping transactions are completed correctly.

  • Coordinate delivery schedule with carriers. Track all damages that occur during incoming and outgoing shipment of product. Communicate with carriers regarding late and/or failed arrivals.

  • Update daily inventory reports regarding incoming and outgoing product, current inventory levels and damaged product.

  • Create orders in Oracle for each load. File all shipping and incoming paperwork. Ensure that all forklift and pallet jack operators have the appropriate inventory paperwork related to the day's shipping and receiving.

  • Field phone calls for adjustments, add-ons and emergency orders from Keystone customer service. Coordinate with appropriate supervisor and logistics to ensure that orders are appropriately met.

  • Provide timely and accurate information to the appropriate personnel in the event of a mock recovery and/or recall.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;

  • 2 years of experience in a general clerical position

  • Basic computer skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to communicate with peers and management level employees, primarily exchanging factual information regarding inventory and orders.

  • Ability to communicate with peer level employees at external carriers regarding deliveries.

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to work in extreme cold (freezer), upon occasion.
