Thrivent Financial Gift Planner - Thrivent Charitable in Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Gift Planner will be part of a growing Charitable Giving Services team responsible for providing expertise and charitable planning solutions to donors, financial advisors, and organizational endowment partners. These solutions are often integrated within financial and estate planning topics such as legacy planning, retirement distribution, tax efficiency, and wealth transfer. This position will be a key charitable planning resource for specific regions of Thrivent financial advisors in the United States and will partner closely with the Charitable Giving Team to deliver charitable planning strategies that educate and inspire generosity. To achieve Thrivent Charitable’s purpose of helping more people experience joy through giving, the Gift Planner will need to influence growth and change across various divisions of Thrivent, including Advice, and Growth, and Generosity.

This role can sit remote within the United States.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver charitable planning expertise through resource development and guidance, and advice calls. This will include one-on-one consults with advisors and/or clients to small group audiences.

  • Educate and recommend Thrivent Charitable’s planning and generosity services and offerings to financial advisors, donors, and corporate partners. Offerings include but are not limited to, donor advised funds, charitable trusts and gift annuities, and endowments.

  • Build trust and confidence as a thought-leader, subject matter expert, and strategic partner among clients, advisors, and corporate partners.

  • Lead due diligence processes and decisions towards acceptance of complex assets such as closely held stock, real estate and limited or general partnerships. Partner closely with Senior Gift Planners as needed.

  • Partner with the rest of the Charitable Giving team to provide differentiated levels of support to advisors based upon tenure, production, and size of practice.

  • Stay up to date as an expert in charitable giving, presentation skills, and strategic integration in the advice process of financial advisors Learn and effectively use Thrivent Charitable’s software, systems, and process software.

  • Assist Thrivent Charitable leaders and staff with other projects and duties as required and assigned.

  • For Gift Planners who are also attorneys, their legal skills will continue to be relevant and utilized in their daily work.

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Required:

  • Strong communication skills and E.Q. – ability to influence and inspire others.

  • A servant-leader mindset that can listen and provide charitable solutions that align with people’s values, bringing a passion for the power of individual generosity, no matter how small or large, to change the world.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience required in planned giving, development, sales, or related fields. J.D., MBA or other relevant advanced degree or experience preferred.

  • Ability to work on everyday details with an eye towards long-term strategy.

  • Strong problem solving and creative skills. Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a time sensitive environment, maintain attention to detail/quality, and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Experience working with data management systems (working knowledge of PG Calc and Stellar Iphi a plus).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 particularly Microsoft Excel; experience with pivot tables and other more advanced functions is highly desirable.
