Enterprise Platforms is a company-wide Center of excellence within Technology comprised of both Product Management and Engineering functions. Our critical platforms (Global Account Receivable, Global Loyalty & Benefits, and Digital Banking) underpin American Express’ essential customer segments, value propositions and business lines.

Enterprise Platforms’ charter is to modernize the company’s core platforms to dramatically increase Amex’s strategic agility and intensify its customer-centric approach.

In Global Accounts Receivable, we are looking for a Staff Engineer to support our modernization journey, enabling our markets to use ground-breaking technology that will provide flexibility, scalability, and speed to market.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Support teams in delivery and running of consistent, modern, cloud-native software.

  • Actively contribute to the delivery of solutions for the platform.

  • Ensure the cloud native systems we implement meet availability, scalability, observability, and performance expectations.

  • Review designs and code of other engineers to ensure they align with principles and high-quality expectations.

  • Ensure the developer experience of writing code and delivering it into production centres around modern CI/CD practices.

  • Work with Product Colleagues, Engineers, and Architects to define solution requirements and technical implementation approach for the Global Accounts Receivable

  • Establish standard methodologies for software development and testing.

Qualifications :

  • 7 years of hands-on Engineering experience in a complex environment and/or comparable experience.

  • Expert in a 3rd or 4th Generation programming language and the ability to apply that experience to working on a microservice platform written in Java.

  • Golang, Python, Terraform, Docker, K8s, Kafka, Cassandra and Postgres, Spring Framework experience is advantageous.

  • Experience of building cloud-centric CI/CD pipelines with a heavy focus on quality and automation.

  • Experience of design and implementation of Microservices and APIs

  • Experience with Event sourcing, CQRS and Hexagonal Architecture design patterns.

  • Experience with high throughput and low latency needs of applications.

  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and takes pride in how fast they develop working software.

  • Shown ability to transform business requirements into high-quality production software.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
