Job Description
The Modeling & Simulation Chief Engineer will support the development of new wargaming Systems solutions. The successful candidate must possess demonstrated system engineering and integration skills with knowledge of DoD and industry tools and technologies. Requirements include assigning tasks to engineering teams, setting long and short term project goals, evaluation of new and existing tools and technologies, negotiations with vendors and customers, and ensuring project stays on budget and within defined timelines. Experience/Expertise with integration of tools and technologies, as well Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), big data algorithms, analytics, and simulation into a comprehensive capability that delivers decision-making insight to military leaders.
In this role, the M&S Chief Engineer will be responsible for:
Lead an manage team of partners and technology experts from diverse backgrounds including Government, military, and industry.
Planning and executing modeling and simulation systems development projects & processes
Designs and develops simulation systems and modeling of simulation objects leveraging industry standard tools and/or programming languages.
Develop modeling and simulation tools and/or use industry tools to assist with analysis of complex, technical problems relating to a wide variety of systems
Applies knowledge about simulation methods and tools for analysis of complex systems
Work side-by-side with existing subject matter experts in wargaming solutions and/or modeling and simulation
Work with the customer to explore new missions, Concept of Operations (CONOPs), and architectures to solve some of the hardest problems facing our customers
Maintain and improve large scale simulations to support multiple missions
Integrate existing models from mission partners into simulations
Model dynamic agent behaviors
Evaluate complex results and determine engineering recommendations based on analysis
Quickly translate user needs into effective software solutions
Develop documents and briefings to communicate work status, brief government and leadership as required
Performing analysis applying appropriate engineering processes and modeling techniques to the life-cycle development of systems
Performing analysis and trade-off studies related to operational issues
Reviewing plans for system integration, operation, and maintenance
Assisting in the development of training for operational personnel.
Collaborate with leaders and partners to ensure Software Engineering objectives are achieved
Support the Chief Engineer as a key member of the leadership team
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM related field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Computer Science, etc. plus 8 Years of Experience in a Modeling & Simulation field
Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
Experience modeling and simulating complex systems
Experience using modeling languages and tools such as C, Python, R, SQL, postgreSQL, linux, TCL/Tk, MATLAB, VB, and/or STK
Experience leading and coordinating efforts of engineering professionals
Must be an independent self-starter with strong initiative
Must have strong writing/reporting and verbal communication skills
Must be able to perform in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment
Must be flexible in a constantly changing business landscape
Ability to travel and meet with both partners and customers regularly
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Familiarity with DoD/Military doctrine
Familiarity/experience with various M&S companies/tool vendors
Understanding of complex wargaming requirements
System of Systems (SoS) integration architecture and engineering
Product and solution trade study and analysis
Understanding of DoD Cyber Requirements (ie: 800-53)
DoD Business Winning Proposal Development Experience
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $127900 - $217400
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
