American Express Compliance Analyst in Phoenix, Arizona
American Express’ Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is responsible for the end-to-end suspicious activity reporting process, which entails monitoring for, investigating, and, when appropriate, reporting suspicious activity. The FIU performs a critical role in ensuring that American Express complies with the Bank Secrecy and USA PATRIOT Acts and provides law enforcement with key information for the investigation and prosecution of money laundering and terrorist financing. This position will report to the FIU Investigations and Hiring Director.
The Analyst will be responsible for and assisting with a variety of staffing and administrative-related deliverables for the Global Finance Crimes Compliance (GFCC) team. This will include reporting of key metrics data and its components such as consolidating financials and headcount reporting, budgeted forecasts and variance in results. The Analyst is required to provide in-depth analysis as needed, support related to projects and control & compliance activities. The person will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and timely execution of the processes and delivery of the data. The incumbent will also support a wide variety of real-time activities including statistical analysis, as well as overseeing recruitment activities in partnership with Human Resources and the Hiring Leaders. Responsible for providing value-added decision support to business partners with a pro-active approach to assessing trends, risks and areas of opportunities.
Job responsibilities: Support the FIU Director and GFCC leadership team in day to day activities which include:
Preparation of budget and forecasts for GFCC.
Support the annual capacity planning process.
Prepare senior management presentations and ad-hoc business analysis for finance and business leaders to effectively communicate financial position and drive decision making
Collaborate with the GFCC team and Finance partners to provide analysis on monthly financial results and key metrics.
Partner with key stakeholders and leadership on analytics to address business issues and opportunities.
Track financial status by monitoring variances from plan.
Maintain the department-wide headcount management process including the recruitment activities in partnership with Human Resources and Hiring Leaders.
Managing the system/process for the department’s employee payroll codes/cost center data.
Partner with Hiring Manager on the logistics for on-boarding and off-boarding employees and contingency workers.
Provide decision support to critical projects and help delivery of targets through insightful analysis and idea generation.
Ad-hoc requests and projects, as needed.
Incumbent will have significant interaction with the GFCC leadership and other internal teams and should possess strong relationship and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence without direct authority.
Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task while meeting tight deadlines.
Ability to support analytical projects by partnering with relevant Stakeholders and Finance colleagues, and ensure delivery to the GFCC leadership team.
Ability to communicate financial results and analytics to non-finance people.
Strong work-ethic and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite with strong Excel skills.
Knowledge and understanding of GFCC and the FIU a plus, as is familiarity with Essbase and TM1.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or related degree highly preferred but not required.
