Shipping Supervisor - Quincy, IL

Job Summary

The Shipping Supervisor is a salary position. Responsible for overseeing training and job performance of shipping operators to ensure high quality and efficient operations while demonstrating a positive and inclusive culture.

Work Duties and Required Skills

  • Follow the expectations of all Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards.

  • Coordinate warehouse colleagues to complete all necessary tasks for the shift.

  • Route and Schedule Quincy and outside carrier delivery trucks in the Tri-State area that Quincy plant services.

  • Create requisitions for products from neighboring facilities.

  • Order LTL/requesting trucks for loads.

  • Supervise delivery drivers and conduct weekly toolbox meetings.

  • Manage driver’s time sheets, mileage logs, inspection logs, expense reports, etc.

  • Review shipping and receiving paperwork.

  • Work closely with the Plant Services Coordinator to ensure all customer orders are gathered and paperwork completed properly and in a timely manner

  • Ability to operate powered industrial equipment.

  • Accurate reporting with necessary paperwork.

  • Provide mentoring and training to colleagues.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Leadership.

  • At times, overtime will be required.

  • Ability to lift 55lbs on a consistent basis.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with strong fundamental skills (math, reading, writing)

  • Prior experience leading / supervising people, preferred.

  • Demonstrated self-starter and able to self-monitor with minimal oversight.

  • Results driven to provide support to achieve the goals established by leadership.

  • The ability to provide motivation to the direct reports and demonstrate leadership qualities to all personnel.

  • Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Applicant must have the ability to direct others, make timely decisions, and complete safety and work permits, as well as shipping logs.

  • Computer skills and capability with Microsoft Products

  • Applicant must be able to work in all types of climates both inside and out including extreme hot and cold temperatures, noisy environments, heights, dusty environments, all of which require use of Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Ability to climb stairs, access ladders, catwalks and elevated working platforms across all hours of shift working time. Job also requires some lifting, sit and stand for long periods of time, work with heights, bending, kneeling and respirator qualified.
