Sutter Health Cardiac Rehabilitation Technician (Per Diem, Days) in Sacramento, California

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Technician provides support to the Cardiac Rehabilitation RN’s and Exercise Physiologist. Primary responsibilities include ECG monitoring, vital signs, patient supervision and clerical tasks. Clerical duties include, but are not limited to: patient scheduling, insurance authorizations, data entry, ordering supplies, cleaning and maintaining exercise equipment, filing, and generating routine reports. The population served by the Cardiac Rehabilitation program is adult and geriatric.


High school diploma required. Prior knowledge of ECG's and completion of Sutter's (or equivalent other) ECG monitoring class is preferred.


Prior work experience in a medical setting as a secretary and/or ECG monitor technician is preferred.


Excellent ECG monitoring skills preferred. Must demonstrate an understanding of the hearts conduction system by accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms both at rest and with exercise preferable. Computer experience preferred. Excellent computer skills preferred. Ability to perform job duties accurately and efficiently in an often high-activity environment is essential. Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently or as a team member.

Special Skills/Equipment:

Excellent interpersonal communication and phone skills are required. Ability to interpret ECG on a monitor while patients are at rest or exercising is preferred. Computer knowledge is required. Ability to read blood pressures is preferred. Must be positive and compassionate towards others and able to maintain composure in an emergency situation. The ability to establish priorities and perform in an organized and efficient manner in a high-energy, dynamic work environment is essential. Ability to obtain patient vital statistics is required. Working knowledge of, and experience with grammatical syntax as well as medical terminology, including proper spelling. Proficiency with IBM computer system, Word, Excel, and Access software required. Excellent record keeping with attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to gather and review data, then make appropriate recommendations. Ability to perform well in a close, highly active environment. Must demonstrate ability to prioritize and manage workflow. Must be positive and compassionate towards others. Must be able to maintain composure in an emergency situation. BCLS certification is required.

  • Physical Requirements: *

Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, perform repetitive hand and arm motions, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds and carry it 150 feet to facilitate patient safety. Must be able to do light exercises and stretching along with bending, crouching, stooping, and reaching.
