We are seeking a Scientist to support our DNA-encoded library (DEL) platform. In this laboratory-based position, this individual will join our DNA-Encoded Library Chemistry group and work closely with members of our broader DEL selection, DEL analytical, and DEL informatics teams to enable our full end-to-end DEL screen workflow. As part of the core DEL team, you will also work closely with Janssen project teams across a variety of targets and therapeutic areas to interpret DEL screening results, coordinate hit resynthesis and influence the early hit-to-lead trajectory from DEL screening campaigns as well as other screening modalities in our integrated hit finding workflow. A passion to learn new laboratory techniques and scientific areas, and the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary, results oriented environment are key attributes.
Principal Responsibilities:
Performing DNA-based labwork independently such as: aqueous chemical reactions on DNA–small molecule conjugates; DNA ligation or other molecular biology techniques; purification of DNA conjugates with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) or other techniques; analysis of DNA-small molecule conjugate compositions through mass spectrometry, electrophoresis, DNA quantitation and other relevant methods.
Designing new Janssen DELs, sourcing materials required for productions, and interfacing with external chemistry and DEL synthesis resources to support the builds.
Supporting DEL screening campaigns through initial planning with the DEL core and project teams, designing chemical tools, analyzing decoded DEL data, and coordinating DEL hit resynthesis and early follow up with internal and external CRO synthetic resources
Evaluating and developing new DEL technologies either internally or through collaboration with key external partners.
Presenting data and project status in internal meetings, peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences
Qualifications
Ph.D. degree with 0-3 years of related post degree experience OR a Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related discipline with 5 years of related experience required; PhD is preferred
Experience in DNA-encoded chemistry and/or combinatorial chemistry is strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of modern synthetic chemistry and analytical techniques is required.
A strong track record of achievement in synthetic chemistry through peer reviewed publications, patents and presentations is required
The ability to improve established methods and explore new laboratory workflows is required
Must have excellent oral & written communication & presentation skills
Must have the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary, results oriented environment
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $104,000- to $166,750.
