Packaging Program Manager (RR Donnelley & Sons Company; Santa Clara, CA) - Coordinate packaging development related resources and activities such as material selection, structural and graphic design, prototyping, costing, package engineering, quality assurance, solution development, and logistics. Identify opportunities to improve existing manufactured items and introduce more cost effective methods. Work with cross-functional team members in the delivery of projects, managing deadlines, and coordinating internal and external project activities. Organize project teams and monitor the new product development schedule. Validate, revise and update project technical files, including drawing files, Design for Manufacturing, workflow, Master Issue List (MIL), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Manufacturing and Inspection Plan. Evaluate ongoing progress and status of projects and track progress against milestones. Communicate to project teams on the business, creative, legal and technical requirements of a project. Resolve issues that may arise during mass production. Document assumptions, dependencies, tasks and milestones. Responsible for account management activities during and after the sale. Respond to customer requests and inquiries regarding current and future work. Liaise between the client and design, production and distribution facilities and the account team. Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date customer files and account history. Prepare and submit sales reports and documentation regarding results, opportunities and challenges in the sales territory. Analyze reports and data to identify revenue and cost containment opportunities. Assist in the implementation and execution of products and services. Consult with customers to understand business issues and goals, and work with customers to develop better solutions to address business needs. Prepare summary reports for Sales Representatives and Sales Management to identify customer needs and opportunities to secure new business. Develop and prepare sales product presentations for use on up-sell opportunities and assist Sales with the development of sales collateral. Assist in the preparation of Request for Proposals (RFP) and Request for Quotations (RFQ). 40 hrs/wk, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. (Job #: 35971).
Requirements: Master’s degree in Packaging, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience in package design. In lieu of a Master’s degree in Packaging, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience in package design, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field and 5 years of post-baccalaureate progressively responsible experience in package design. Experience must include: packaging development within the cosmetics, consumer electronics, or Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry specific to paper and plastic packaging products; pre-media, printing and color management; managing product development projects while meeting financial and product launch goal deadline targets; Adobe Create Suite, ArtioCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (Project and Visio); and, Mac OS X, Salesforce, Agile, JDE and SAP. This position requires up to 15% international and domestic travel.
