General Dynamics Information Technology Laboratory Technical Supervisor in Silver Spring, Maryland
This position is for a technical supervisor in support of the Department of Laboratory Diagnostics and Monitoring (DLDM) in the Military HIV Research Program (MHRP). This position will serve as a technical authority to provide advice on issues arising in the full range of laboratory operations in a regulated (CLIA, CLIP, CAP) laboratory environment. These positions are in the HIV Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory (HDRL) which performs molecular diagnostic, clinical and therapeutic monitoring assays (e.g. qualitative HIV, HCV, GC, CT, TV, and MGen, quantitative HIV, HCV viral load). HDRL also performs clinical immunological and serological assays (e.g. HIV-1 EIA, HCV EIA, HBsAg, HBsAg neutralization, anti-HBs, anti-HBcore, HIV-1 WB, and Rapid Tests.
Job responsibilities include , but are not limited to, the following:
Oversight and performance (when required) of clinical procedures, ensuring that all regulatory standards and turn around times are met.
Review and verification of technical data for accuracy; review quality indicators for testing.
Prepare, write and review SOPs and provide technical guidance in accordance with SOPs.
Workload planning, setting of short term priorities for lab technicians, and preparation of schedules.
Train new technologists and technicians.
Evaluation and resolution of problems through troubleshooting instruments, test methods, and processes.
Collaborate with quality assurance staff to ensure compliance of testing with all QC/QA guidelines.
Bachelors Degree in a scientific or health related discipline.
Certification as a Medical Technologist required (ASCP or CSLMS)
5 years of experience minimum in analytical laboratory operations
Experience in CAP, CLIP, CLIA regulated environment
