General Dynamics Information Technology Sr Laboratory Technologist in Silver Spring, Maryland

Job Description

May be involved in development; evaluation; validation; and implementation of diagnostic assays including; but not limited to Point of Care Devices; highly complexity tests such as real time PCR; digital droplet PCR; and next generation sequencing for clinical service delivery for HIV; STIs; blood borne infections; and transfusion transmissible infection.

Reviews all clinical runs and maintenance reports; and ensures that all regulatory agency requirements (CAP; FDA) standards are met.

Verifies patient results.

Ensures that all regulatory agency requirements (CAP; FDA) standards are met.

Performs routine and specialized tests and procedures in accordance with CAP regulations.

Operates equipment (robotic systems; testing platforms) for execution and interpretation of specialized a/or innovative clinical diagnostic and clinical research assays.

Performs sample analysis using various acquisition and analysis software programs.

Reviews data reports prior to submission.

Performs routine maintenance; and Quality Control procedures for instrumentation; and report of variance to Quality Assurance Manger.

Prepares quality controls solutions; reagents; media; and specimens for analysis in clinical diagnostic and clinical research assays.

Creates and maintains data summary spreadsheets; inventories; Standard Operating Procedures.

Maintains laboratory records.

Maintains adequate laboratory supplies necessary to conduct clinical and clinical research assays.

Reports any issues in regards to testing or personnel to the Technical Supervisor.

Education

BS in medical technology; biological or chemical science required. Medical technologist ASCP preferred.

Qualifications

2-3 years of lead or senior laboratory technologist or technician experience needed.

Documented experience in development; evaluation; validation; implementation of diagnostic assays.

Experience with robotic instrumentation for use in serological and molecular nucleic acid testing; to include: HIV/HCV Screening via ELISA; HIV Western Blot; HIV Rapid tests; HIV Viral Load; HIV Genotyping and assays for qualitative detection for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases.

Experience with Lab Information Systems (LIMS) for the use of resulting patient results.
