Role reports to: Senior Director of Nutritional Science

Location: Skillman, NJ - Kenvue’s corporate headquarters is currently located in Skillman NJ, but is scheduled to move to Summit, NJ in or around early 2025 .)

Pay: $111,000 to $192,050

What will you do

The R&D Manager will shape onboarding and training tools incorporating all elements associated with product design and process development for an array of product forms, such as, tablets, capsules, gummies, and liquids, and they will build relationships with external suppliers and manufacturers in order to enable the execution of the Nutritionals Product Portfolio for North America.

The R&D Manager will guide a team of scientists who will be authoring technical reports and act as a reviewer and/or approver, as needed, throughout the end-to-end development process. They will act as the technical mentor and coach for the Supplement Technical Team and product development team and anticipate and prevent technical issues and escalate topics to leadership when necessary. In this role you will report to the Senior Director of R&D and Innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• The R&D Manager will be responsible for technical leadership and support for new and marketed products across a variety of brands in the Nutritionals / dietary supplement space, including Zarbee’s, as well as shaping a robust innovation pipeline for North America.

• The candidate will work with cross-functional peers to provide direction towards regional goals based on sound technical assessments and rationale.

• They will utilize their strong technical skills and judgement to effectively assess risk, triage issues, and implement proactive solutions in order to meet the objectives and key results.

• Technical challenges will be communicated clearly and effectively in the spirit of partnership and teamwork.

• They will partner with translational science to integrate new technologies into the Nutritionals Pipeline and ensure the science is effectively communicated in partnership with Medical Affairs and the Claims coordinator.

• The candidate will lead the end-to-end innovation process from shaping product briefs, developing prototypes, scaling up a variety of product forms, to ensuring products can be manufactured reliably to ensure business continuity.

• They will be a voting member at the Technical Review Forum to ensure the proper technical milestones are met throughout the course of the project.

• They will partner closely with all functions responsible for product innovation, including but not limited to Packaging, Analytical, Microbiology, Toxicology, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Operations, and Quality & Compliance.

• They will guide the team of scientists in troubleshooting technical issues as they arise during the development process.

Qualifications

What we are looking for

• 8 years of experience with BS or higher degree, 6 years of experience with MS or 4 years of experience with PhD

• Experience in formulation / product development in the Dietary Supplement space required

• Experience in the scale-up, manufacturing and/or plant troubleshooting of liquid/solid cosmetic product required

• Understanding of GxPs, DSHEA, and FDA Compliance requirements required

• Excellent communication skills, including spoken and written English

• Strong technical and leadership skills

• Ability to partner effectively across a diverse set of business partners and customers to deliver key results in a timely manner.

• Entrepreneurial; Business owner mentality, willing to be hands on and contribute as one team

• Critical thinking and comprehensive business acumen

• Ability to travel International and Domestic up to 10%

• Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $111,000 to $192,050
