Johnson & Johnson Customer & Logistics Services (CLS) is a global Supply Chain organization that supports operating units across all of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies. CLS strives to deliver an exceptional customer experience through leading critical customer facing-functions such as distribution and transportation. In addition, CLS oversees critical business enablers, including how we gather and manage supply chain master data, safe and secure supply chain practices, product identification standards, and market/channel access capabilities. CLS supports all three sectors of Johnson & Johnson: Medical Device & Diagnostics, Pharmaceutical, and Consumer Products. This team is represented in multiple countries, and continues to grow globally in both visibility and responsibility. The CLS team reports to Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain and partners closely with groups throughout the supply chain organization.

The JOM Distribution network includes the Kentucky Distribution Center (KDC) and Franklin Distribution Center (FDC). The KDC is a 325,000 sq. ft. distribution center encompassing 64+ salaried and wage associates across 1 shift/5days per week (occasional weekends) and includes domestic distribution and repack / relabel activities supporting the US Janssen pharmaceuticals and Diabetes Care businesses. The FDC is a 150,000 sq. ft. distribution operation encompassing 30+ salaried and wage associated across 1 shift/5 days per week (occasional weekends) and includes both domestic and international logistics activities supporting 3 business areas: Commercial, Clinicals and Sales & Marketing.

The Manager of Industrial & Temperature Engineer is responsible for:

  • Managing and developing work processes that integrate compliant product and customer delivery requirements into the distribution operation for J&J customers.

  • Promoting the use of Process Excellence tools for continuous improvement and cost savings programs/strategies to meet business requirements.

  • Being the subject matter expert on methods of temperature sensitive distribution, production/distribution processes, and cGMP’s.

  • Possessing high-level multi-tasking and organizational skills and be able to troubleshoot complex issues.

  • Supports qualification and validation programs for facility, equipment utilizing Quality Risk Management tools and associated documents

  • Communicate to distribution and quality management in accordance with the event notification quality procedure.

  • Interact with Regulatory Health Authority representatives during inspections as required and support responses to Regulatory Health Authorities

  • Acts as a single point of contact for JOM providing leadership and direction to supporting areas (i.e. Tech Op’s, Temp CoE etc.) for concept and design changes to temperature sensitive delivery systems and materials for JOM facilities.

  • Develops business case and cost/benefit analyses for management team to facilitate sound business decision-making.

  • Establishes working relationships with key temperature sensitive strategic vendors to identify and be well-informed of new innovative product delivery systems, services to meet product and market strategies.

  • Partners to support all deviations, CAPA’s and closures related to temperature excursions that are attributed to a transportation carrier or related to the facility and/or equipment.

  • Has a broad understanding of the impact of facility changes on surrounding temperature controls. Initiates change controls to manage changes within the distribution center.

  • Responsible for all related deviations, CAPA’s and closures related to cooler design (passive shipping solution, etc.)

  • Accountable for partnering with Franchise Integration to provide leadership to represent Operations for all new product launches and or legacy product changes that require temperature controls.

  • Accountable for any new JOM cooler qualifications or leveraging an existing cooler for commercial products

  • Responsible for Implementing/Leveraging existing coolers for the JOM business

  • Responsible for periodic facility temp mapping, equipment requalification and temperature related equipment upgrades/installation

  • Responsible for maintaining Validation Master Plan (VMP)

  • Provides specific technical expertise to support special projects, product/process improvements; and provides input to develop capital expense forecast to support business needs for temperature sensitive and other opportunities.

  • Identifies, directs and implements potential cost savings and project execution improvements.

  • Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside his/her organization, with responsibility for acting independently on technical or business matters pertaining to his/her field. Has the ability to influence, and bring together, surrounding organizations that support temperature, facility, quality and procedural initiatives.

  • Maintains relationship with key customers and industry working groups.


  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Engineering or Supply Chain.

  • A minimum of 8 years of business experience is required.

  • Business experience in health care industry or general management experience in a fast pace, dynamic operation is required.

  • Leadership experience within a diverse organization and Process Excellence Belt is preferred.

  • Knowledge in Process Excellence and/or LEAN Six Sigma is preferred.

  • Experience in design and development of best solutions and methodologies for optimal business processes is required.

  • Experience with statistical analysis for new products, improving processes, capability and stability analysis, process control, and design of experiments is preferred.

  • This position requires up to 30% of travel, domestic and international.

  • This position is located in Somerset, NJ or Shepherdsville, KY
