Description

  • The Supply Network Quality Engineer-1 — will be a good subject knowledgeable in manufacturing processes lika welding, forging, casting & machining.

  • Plan on training (if needed) at the part supplier to train or assist with skills or inspection criteria.

  • Oversee the entire life cycle of assigned suppliers' projects, from conception to production.

  • Supporting in establish procedures, new product launches, verify processes, troubleshoot, and assist suppliers' production.

  • Provide/suggest improvement ideas for suppliers' processes to reduce cycle time, eliminate waste and scraps, and maintain part quality.

  • Assist in the resolution of warranty issues.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers and their sub-tier suppliers for regular production components.

  • Provides conclusions and recommendations for quality issues and/or continuous quality improvement projects.

  • Participates in supplier quality improvement initiatives; works with suppliers to develop and improve quality levels.

  • Ensures the reliability and quality of suppliers, implementing process controls, certification programs, evaluations, inspections, corrective actions, audits, and records.

  • Identified quality problem(s) and determines a short-term action plan with the facility management and the suppl

  • support cross-functional teams and support the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process to complete PPAP.

  • Audit the suppliers and ensure the new quality initiatives at supplier as per Caterpillar requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Graduate in Engineering with 8+ years of experience or Diploma with 10+ years’ experience.

  • Minimum of 6+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing process like fabrication, foundry, forging, machining, and painting inspecting part roles, ideally in a Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering role.

  • Good understanding and strong knowledge of GD&T. Ability to read and interpret drawings and an in-depth knowledge of the application of quality standards, zoning, and specifications.

  • Strong problem-solving experience and tools.

  • Experience with cosmetic classifications and understanding of process parameters that affect cosmetic defects (Appearance/AAR, Class-A, B, or C surfaces)

  • Experience with failure analysis using advanced techniques.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality results.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.

  • Experience in supporting product and process development through the product lifecycle

  • Good Knowledge in tools such as process FMEA, control strategies, modelling and simulation software, statistical methods, problem-solving, materials science, and design of experiments (DOE)
