International Paper Process Control Engineer in VALLIANT MILL, Oklahoma
This position will report to the Process Controls Manager in Valliant, Oklahoma. Valliant is a 5,000+ ton per day containerboard mill with 3 paper machines, 3 continuous digesters, 3 secondary fiber plants and a utilities/chemical recovery complex. It currently operates with over 350 mill employees and 150 contract maintenance employees in a results oriented environment.
Lead/Support production and maintenance teams in troubleshooting process issues and able to transfer knowledge and troubleshooting skills to operations teams.
Understand process and assist with implementation of corrective action steps to resolve operational issues.
Lead teams working on system problems, customer issues and process optimization.
Utilize knowledge and experience to improve quality, stabilize processes, reduce costs (develop/support year over year cost reduction efforts) and improve customer satisfaction.
Responsible for performing basic engineering calculations, investigations and tasks as assigned.
Collaborate with more experienced engineers to provide follow-up and engineering assistance on defined problems.
Become qualified at the 6-Sigma White/Green Belt Level and lead Deliberate Improvement Projects and other Manufacturing Excellence activities.
Assume ownership of all new controls equipment and controls strategies on improvement projects. Ownership of overall control design includes the development of functional descriptions, DCS Implementation/programming, check-out, commissioning, and startup support.
Become Competent in Honeywell/ABB/Bailey DCS programming and troubleshooting.
Assume ownership of area Alarm Management activities.
Assume ownership of area IEPM efforts.
Assume ownership of area CLPM Loops and reports.
Work with area operations to correct issues with operator pages; become familiar with graphics building.
Lead area efforts to migrate DCS Platforms due to obsolescence, own the project scope for the area.
Prepare or assist in preparing reports and graphs.
Final Position Level (PL) will be determined based on qualifications and experience of selected candidate.
Bachelors degree in ChE, EE, Pulp & Paper Technology
Possess good skills in written and oral communication, problem solving, time management, conflict resolution and task group facilitation.
Strong computer knowledge and skills that include experience with spreadsheets, word processing and computer aided drafting.
Ability to excel with minimal supervision in a team environment.
Willing to work weekend duty on a rotating basis and overtime on shutdowns or to meet goals.
