Primary Function
We have an immediate need for a Sr. Lab Technician- Electronic Controls in our Lebanon, TN facility. This position will be responsible for setting up, running and reporting on the in-house testing of microcontroller-based controls and electronic sub-assemblies used in boilers, water heaters, and heat pumps.
Responsibilities
Set up, run and report on testing of electronic controls and sub-assemblies
Assembly/modification of electronic controls and sub-assemblies
Assist engineers and technicians, as required, with development projects
Design and maintain laboratory equipment and test fixtures
Develop laboratory procedures and processes
Maintain levels of consumable parts and components used in the lab
Assist production staff to diagnose/resolve production issues as required
Read electronics schematics and identify component procedures
Solder and assemble printed circuit boards with surface-mount components
Diagnose faults, to board level, on analog and digital circuits
Qualifications
Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering or Related Field with 5+ years of related work experience preferred. In lieu of degree will consider those with 7+ years of related work experience and High School Diploma or GED.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to read electronics schematics and identify component procedures
Ability to use general electronics laboratory equipment and power tools, such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
Ability to solder and assemble printed circuit boards with surface-mount components
Ability to diagnose faults, to board level, on analog and digital circuits
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to learn quickly
Experience with communications e.g. RS-485, Ethernet, Wi-Fi preferred
Experience with data acquisition software (LabView) a plus
Ability to analyze problems, present solutions, and make decisions
Experience with boiler, water heater, and heat pump products and control systems with a sound understanding of their applications strongly preferred
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee must occasionally listen for noise produced by units and components.
