Key Responsibilities:

As part of Corporate Risk Management, the senior risk analyst will be responsible for supporting the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of MIM Risk Management in the establishment of an efficient and scalable risk management framework for MIM. Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Assist in developing portfolio/fund level risk limits in conjunction with the portfolio managers and ensure they are properly tested and monitored.

  2. Participate in the development and implementation of risk management tools and systems and recommend enhancements to the existing framework.

  3. Assist in developing and compiling risk reporting packages for the Risk Committee by working with key MIM business areas (i.e. Private Placements, Real Estate, Indexed Management and MIM Operations, etc.). The risk reporting package will include reports for key risks i.e. Market Risk, Credit risk, Liquidity Risk and Operational risk that affect MIM managed non-affiliated assets.

  4. Assist business and functional areas to perform deep-dive operational and other risk assessments and work with management to establish corrective action plans as warranted. Track action plans through implementation.

  5. Work with the business to ensure sufficient Key Risk Indicators are established and reported to the appropriate management and/or Committee.

  6. Assist in development/perform derivative related risk management activities as appropriate.

  7. Review the list of MIM related models to ensure proper risk assessment and rating.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 5+ year(s) of experience in any of the following fields: investment risk management, statistics, quantitative risk management, or actuarial science as well as any other related field of expertise.

  • Prior experience working for a global asset manager.

  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, actuarial science, or statistics.

  • Advanced degree or CFA, FSA, CPA is highly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of fixed income investments, real estate, credit risk management and operational and credit risk.

  • Proactive, motivated self-starter.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and work collaboratively with members of other departments and lines of business.

  • Strong conceptual, analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Experience with Aladdin, Bloomberg or credit risk software platform such as Moody’s Risk Frontier.
