Abbott Director, Corporate Marketing Strategy in Abbott Park, Illinois

As the Director Corporate Marketing Strategy in Public Affairs for Abbott, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and elevating Abbott's brand to become an iconic and trusted household name. You will be responsible for leading marketing strategies and initiatives that resonate with consumers and health professionals, strengthen brand loyalty, and drive business growth. This role requires a leader who can translate the needs of individual and multiple business units into strategies and actions that advance Abbott’s brand identity. This position works out of our Abbott Park headquarter location.

What You’ll Work On

  • Marketing Leadership: Lead corporate and business unit marketing teams to produce high-quality marketing strategies and execution that generate outsized impact and results

  • Marketing Lead: Serve as primary corporate touchpoint with business unit marketing and agencies to understand business unit needs

  • Business Strategy to Marketing Strategy: Translate business unit strategies and needs into corporate marketing strategies that effectively communicate Abbott's value proposition with consumers and healthcare professionals, deliver the desired impact, and support business growth

  • Marketing Executions: Develop marketing executions that express Abbott’s brand purpose across corporate, areas of expertise, and business unit and cross-business unit opportunities

  • Relevance: Stay ahead of market trends, consumer and healthcare professional behaviors, and the competitive landscape to inform marketing strategy, maintain outsized consumer and healthcare professional relevance, and drive the conversation around health

  • Innovation and Creativity: Foster a culture of innovation and creativity with business unit marketing, encouraging the exploration of new approaches, ideas, positioning, and activations that can deliver out-sized impact

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with business unit marketing, corporate, creative, brand architecture, and communications teams to deliver on marketing milestones and objectives

  • Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget effectively, allocating resources efficiently and ensuring optimal ROI on marketing investments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of Marketing/Communications experience with B2B and B2C applications.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw insights that drive the business forward.

  • Excellent overall business acumen, including budget planning and management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Established track record of leading, coaching, and developing high-performing marketing teams.

  • Experience leading creative, digital, and data agencies and motivating them to deliver high-impact marketing initiatives.

  • Effective stakeholder and relationship management experience; able to interact and build trusted relationships with multiple levels.

  • Knowledge of marketing concepts within the strategic planning process.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate quickly and decisively in a fast-paced, matrixed, demanding environment.

  • Ability to foster strong relationships with senior management and forge internal and external partnerships.

  • Corporate Brand management experience

  • Experience in consumer marketing

  • Insights-Driven Decision-Making: Capability to integrate consumer [healthcare professional] insights in marketing strategies, drive creative effectiveness, and optimize campaign performance

The base pay for this position is $143,300.00 – $286,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
