WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Director, Regional Program Management, you will be responsible and accountable for management and overall execution of entire portfolio of Abbott Nutrition Research & Development projects for assigned Business Unit within Latin America and EMEA. Project portfolio budget is $5MM -$10MM. Will have the authority to make critical decisions affecting area of operation with major (up to $500M) financial implications, consults with senior leadership on all others. Makes decisions that affect project outcomes, thereby having direct impact on product launches and ultimate division sales and margins.

Job Duties:

  • Lead a team of regional program and project managers for the planning and execution of a portfolio of varying complexity of new product development and supply chain programs. Programs include formulation development, capital expansions and upgrades, new packaging, and regional product launches across diverse set of regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate across global and regional Commercial, R&D, Regulatory, and Supply Chain leaders to ensure projects align to AN divisional strategies and project outcomes meet business goals while managing risk.

  • Manage multiple regional portfolio of projects including annual resource capacity and $5MM-$10MM total budget planning.

  • Facilitate the readiness / leadership review of key programs progressing through the innovation process.

  • Interacts with senior management requiring influence, resource allocation, project prioritization and policymaking.

  • Makes staffing decisions and has responsibility for overall departmental operations, including purchasing, inventory, facilities, systems.

  • Works to establish and maintain a system for quantifying project benefits to support and facilitate objective project approval decisions.

  • Sets and resets project/program/portfolio process procedures, timelines, and priorities with appropriate executive management approval.

  • Oversees the distribution of project portfolio information to executive management, directors, and other key personnel.

  • Establishes project procedures, rules, and guidelines; approves exceptions and modifications within own area of responsibility.

  • Analyzes the impact of changes in existing projects or addition of new projects and identifies strategies (resources allocation/project sequencing) for accomplishing all desired projects----identifies project interrelationships that affect priority and resources allocation decisions.

  • Facilitates the identification, selection, planning, resource allocation, prioritization and execution of projects that support the business area with R&D. Supports decisions and prioritization conclusions by leadership team by providing data, inputs, analysis, and facilitative assistance.

  • Promotes the development and diffusion of project management best practices throughout the organization.

  • Maintains effective communication with senior management, providing awareness of critical issues and action plans for resolution of issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s Degree, with 5+ years in a technical discipline, Master’s degree, or PhD with less experience

  • Thorough understanding of budgeting, project management, and resource management.

  • 7+ years of project management experience, including successful oversight of large, complex projects or programs; Project Management Certification is desirable.

  • Capable of developing solutions to complex problems.

  • Extensive knowledge of project management tools and methodologies, experience using project management and business management computer software.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Strong negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills; ability to participate in an open environment where conflicts regarding priorities and funding decision can be aired and resolved objectively.

  • Ability to express complex concepts both verbally and in writing to diverse groups of people.

  • Results oriented with long term focus and must have excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with management at all levels

The base pay for this position is $143,300.00 – $286,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
