The Opportunity

This position works out of our Lake Bluff, IL location in the GES Global Engineering Services division. This is a first shift opportunity.

The Group Lead Maintenance (Electrical) is the lead person for the LC Maintenance and Construction Services electrical groups of employees/staff personnel in similar or multiple job roles. The Group Lead Maintenance is the point of contact for electrical technical support for the group, coaches and provides guidance regarding to course of action to take. Interacts with customers, answers questions and provide status of in-process work. Provides front line leadership to electrical employees/staff personnel through scheduling, coordinating, coaching, mentoring, and training. Provides daily direction of work assignments to provide cost-effective operations. Takes direction from Management and communicates work-related information to employees/staff personnel within the group. Contributes a varying amount of time across administrative support, implementation of initiatives, continuous improvement, and troubleshooting in the field.

What You’ll Work On

  • Provides direct oversight to employees/staff personnel performing electrical trade functions such as but not limited to. troubleshooting, repairs, rearrangements, installations, warehousing, and stockroom services.

  • Work is performed in or support of manufacturing, research and development, plant operations (utilities / facilities) and general office areas.

  • Conducts field observations and reviews electrical work requests to determine the exact job requirements and priority.

  • Determines labor, material requirements, and estimates of total job costs related to electrical scope when requested.

  • Orders materials and parts from stock or from vendors to complete the job when requested.

  • Assists with the determination of electrical trade training needs and arranges for these needs.

  • Performs “hands on” work within area of responsibility, as required.

  • Identifies parts and tools needed by his/her electrical group and coordinates that they are available on time for completion of the job as requested.

  • Establishes and enforces safety rules and regulations specifically applicable to the function.

  • Provides or coordinates with other personnel, the technical expertise necessary to assist trades personnel in the work group.

  • Assures compliance with Company quality systems and standards, along with Government Agency regulations, related to equipment and facilities.

  • Monitors frequency and accuracy of work and is responsible for timely completion.

  • Performs special projects such as reports, evaluates process problems to determine solutions, audits,and work techniques.

  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Management.

  • Operates computers or fixed function terminals to obtain various types of reports or information from software programs.

  • Ensures good customer service by effectively communicating the status of work to customers and sharing adequate job information with other work groups when passing work on to another group.

  • Demonstrate a high level of cooperation with other personnel and actively seeks to improve methods and work processes which increases productivity, reduces cost and increases customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of a High School diploma (or equivalent)

  • Background: Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be knowledgeable of various software applications.

  • Must have multi-skill capability and be familiar with the application and operation of tools and equipment used by various groups.

  • Must be knowledgeable of various systems used in operations including Maintenance Management computer applications.

  • Must also have demonstrated the interpersonal skills needed to communicate and work with customers. Good organizational skills to effectively coordinate and manage group.

  • Must have knowledge of but not limited to validated systems, qualified areas within building facilities and applicable engineering standards that are associated with job function.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Trade School education is preferred, in addition to six or more years of work experience in a related field.

  • Maximo along with a thorough knowledge of all relevant Abbott policies and procedures. In addition to hands-on work experience, the individual must have demonstrated leadership skills and interest during the performance of his/her regular work responsibilities, including directing work activities of others.

  • Previous experience as Lead Electrician, Foreman/Supervisor with medium voltage substation operations and maintenance experience – beneficial.

  • Trained/Experienced in inspection, cleaning, testing, servicing, installation, set-up and repair of facility electrical distribution up to and above 600 volts – beneficial.

  • Experience in a similar role as High Voltage Construction/Maintenance Electrician or Electrical Foremen/Site Engineer – beneficial.

The base pay for this position is $28.20 – $56.40 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
