The Opportunity
Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for a Material Scientist Operations at our Lake Bluff, IL location. The Material Scientist Operations will be responsible for independently perform analytical testing, analysis, and write reports to support complex, long-duration projects, product improvements and investigations for materials utilized in in-vitro diagnostics. Proactively identify opportunities for significant operational; process; or product improvements.
What You’ll Work On
Manages day to day activities for a materials science laboratory. Responsible for performing analytical testing and methods, considering Critical Quality Attribute (CQAs), critical process parameters, and analytical performance characteristics for polymeric and metallic materials.
Project Management- Manages multiple projects and supports complex long duration projects, product improvements, and complaint investigations for new and on-market products within ADD or at Third Party Manufacturers (TPM).
Product and process improvements. Perform or support test and process method modifications: considering CQAs; critical process parameters and analytical performance characteristics.
Design Control & Risk Management- Effectively balances compliance risk and business risk to create and review risk management files.
Technical Support- Assist in resolution of multiple complex and quality issues across ADD sites; TPMs and or functions (instrument, reagents, software, and commodities). Anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues.
Sharing knowledge- Generates technical reports, presents technical information to internal and external groups.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in STEM, e.g. Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, and 2 years of progressively responsible positions in a research, development, or operations environment.
Master’s Degree in STEM, e.g. Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree preferred in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or Materials Science.
Execution of practical lab skills with increasing complexity of knowledge with experience.
Experience operating analytical equipment including FTIR (Fourier transform infrared), SEM, Raman, HPLC, DSC.
Experience in technical support and characterization of plastic/organic materials and or molded parts (Medical, Pharmaceutical, or Aerospace desired).
Work well in a team environment.
Knowledge/use of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.
Basic computer skills- able to learn new computer programs.

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
