The Opportunity
This position is based at either our Abbott Park, IL, or Willis Tower, Chicago, IL location, supporting the Global Purchasing Services (GPS) Business Excellence team. The Procurement Specialist leverages their experience to help implement best practices and support Source-to-Pay strategies across GPS. This role involves collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, as well as various Abbott Divisions, to resolve issues and deliver exceptional customer service.
Operate within established processes and procedures, while also contributing to the development of new approaches for continuous improvement.
Proactively seek innovative ways to improve procurement processes, cycle times, and elevate customer service levels.
Develop a solid understanding of “One Procurement” strategies, gaining knowledge and experience across multiple categories to positively impact the team.
What You’ll Work On
Work with our Supplier Enablement team to invite and qualify / disqualify suppliers in SAP Ariba and support Source-to-Pay process and technology design / enhancements related to supplier qualification / disqualification.
Support the GPS Business Excellence team and category teams with established reporting on supplier additions / reductions, preferred supplier targets and spend, supplier catalog usage, and reporting related to supplier performance management.
Assist the GPS Buying Channel lead with the SAP Ariba Purchase Requisition / Purchase Order end-to-end process including stakeholder engagement, issue resolution, and process improvement.
PROJECT CO-ORDINATION
Collaborate daily with our Supplier Enablement team to invite and qualify/disqualify suppliers in Ariba.
Support the Source-to-Pay process with technology design and enhancements related to supplier qualification/disqualification.
Support the Source-to-Pay process with technology design and enhancements related to purchase requisitions / purchase orders
STAKEHOLDER SUPPORT
Meet regularly with category teams, divisional customers, and support functions to ensure high customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
Assist with change management, guiding the business to adopt change and embrace preferred suppliers and catalogs.
REPORTING SUPPORT
Provide analytical and execution support via reporting to category teams for identifying, developing, and implementing:
Supplier rationalization opportunities
Preferred supplier targets and opportunities
Catalog targets and opportunities.
Supplier performance management activities such as supplier performance surveys
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
Drive a defined supplier qualification/disqualification process flow globally as Ariba expands.
Continuously explore creative solutions to enhance procurement processes, reduce cycle times, and boost customer service standards.
Identify opportunities to enhance and streamline existing reporting processes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree: Supply-Chain, Business, or Financial Degree
2-4 years of Procurement experience
Understanding of Source to Pay technology and process like SAP Ariba or any other.
Preferred Qualifications:
Functional experience in Procurement or any other functions such as Finance, etc.
Excellent people skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Project Management skills
Self-Starter
Proficient in Analytics & reporting with spreadsheet programs using Power BI/MS Excel/Smartsheet/QlikView, etc.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills
Source to Pay Technology Experience a plus.

The base pay for this position is $60,000.00 – $120,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
