The Opportunity
The Senior Scientist will work in a research technician capacity within a project-driven biosensor R&D group, designing and executing experiments, and conducting non-routine analytical tests on biosensors and sensor materials for use in development and troubleshooting.
What You’ll Work On
Conduct analytical experiments to test new and existing biosensor concepts and the materials used in their construction, including small molecules, traditional polymers, and biologics. This will include running analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, LCMS, GCMS, UV-vis, GPC, viscometer, cyclic voltammeter, and interpreting results from these and other techniques such as NMR, MS, elemental.
Construct and test biosensors in various formats for R&D purposes. This includes running laser cutting, automated liquid dispensing, and other custom equipment.
Design and execute laboratory experiments to inform root cause analysis, and to enhance fundamental understanding of how sensor chemistry drives sensor function.
Organize and process large amounts of raw data from experiments into tables and graphs for systematic review and evaluation to identify trends and establish relationships.
Interpret data from clinical studies to gain insight into biological interactions with the sensor chemistry.
Access the chemical, biological, and engineering literature to provide insights to technical issues.
Present experimental results in group meetings.
Maintain lab equipment, QA records, and purchasing documentation.
Purchase materials and services and interface regularly with contract suppliers
Coordinate with internal functions such as Safety, Purchasing, Accounting.
Required Qualifications
PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a relevant physical or life science.
Expertise in analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, polymer chemistry, organometallics, or biologics, strongly preferred.
