The primary purpose of this position is to direct, develop, implement and drive the company’s strategy for freight rate management, driving income growth by applying proper and auditable freight revenue rates to our portfolio of products. Works closely with Vendor Negotiations, Merchandising, National Sales, Replenishment and Logistics to provide optimal customer solutions while maintaining a profitable managed logistics program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain and improve freight rate application tools and processes designed to capture vendor and market related costs to moving freight and applying margin. Lead team to continuously improve accuracy and our ability to capture nuances in the business improving offering accuracy and confidence in our capabilities.

Inspire and develop team to become business owners, Teaming Up with field partners and logistics peers to identify optimal customer solutions and drive freight acceptance to deliver our financial commitments while growing the business.

Develop new capabilities as the business evolves including; mergers and acquisitions, Produce 2.0, and new vendor rate collection processes. Expand influence and ownership across the inbound freight business.

Provide succinct and accurate reporting and recommendations to stakeholders to drive decision making and performance management. Identify key drivers of performance and actionable solutions.

Requires occasional (approximately 10-15%) travel

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related analytical field; Master’s degree or MBA is a plus

Related Experience/Requirements:

• 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience is required. Requires excellent leadership, change management and negotiation skills; strong ability to define and articulate a clear vision; lead a team and partner with stakeholders to define and execute road map to achieve vision.

• Prior experience in food distribution or logistics is a plus but not required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent people management and interpersonal skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent analytical skills

• Leverage PowerPoint for effective storytelling to diverse audiences

• Working knowledge of leveraging optimization tools and capabilities
