Lockheed Martin Head of Product Engineering in Andover, Massachusetts

Description: Lockheed Martin Energy is pioneering long-duration energy storage systems, based on a proprietary redox chemistry, to enable the widespread adoption of renewable power generation and enhance the resilience of the electric grid. We seek a well-qualified engineering leader to help commercialize these revolutionary products.

The successful candidate will direct an interdisciplinary team developing turn-key energy storage systems. For this role, we seek a self-motivated, dynamic, and creative individual with a serious interest in renewable energy technologies. Significant product engineering experience is required, including detailed design of custom subsystems as well as system-level integration of commercial off-the-shelf components. The Head of Product Engineering is expected to have a highly refined sense of manufacturability, component assembly methods, and materials selection to drive solutions which achieve performance and cost targets concurrently. This position requires the technical breadth to direct staff and subordinate leaders executing work scope in flow cell stack design, fluid distribution, thermal management, electrical system design and packaging, networked instrumentation and control, and software. Expertise in one or more of these technical domains is also expected.

As a senior member of the leadership team, the Head of Product Engineering will contribute to the development of technology and business strategies and product roadmaps. Externally, this leader will engage proactively with suppliers and customers to understand their evolving capabilities and needs, ensuring continued differentiation of the company’s products.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering

• Team leadership experience and a genuine commitment to staff development through coaching, mentoring, and identification of training and stretch assignments

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident

Desired Skills:

• An advanced technical degree

• 10+ years of product development experience

• Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of grid-tied energy storage systems, chlor-alkali processing, and other electrochemical energy conversion devices, although candidates with relevant hardware and software experience outside of this area are also sought

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
