What You Will Achieve

Join us for this exciting opportunity in the Biomeasures group in Pfizer Andover applying cell-based assays, proteomics, and quantitative protein LCMS to transformative mRNA/LNP, small molecule, and biotherapeutics projects. The role will primarily develop protein mass spectrometry and targeted proteomics assays to measure concentrations and turnover of targets of biotherapeutics in a variety of biological matrices as well as transgene protein expression from mRNA-LNP therapies. The successful applicant will display particular interest and expertise in sample preparation and enrichment techniques including protein and peptide immunoaffinity in conjunction with LCMS using high resolution and triple quadrupole MS and/or ligand binding assays (LBA). The successful applicant will join a state-of-the-art laboratory with deep expertise in protein quantification and is expected to build strong collaborative partnerships, both within and outside the group. This position requires bioanalytical sample preparation expertise, some background in protein biochemistry and proteomics, and documented experience utilizing triple quadrupole and high-resolution quantitative mass spectrometry. This position will work in project teams and interact with modelling & simulation experts, project leads, biologists, and protein engineers.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Responsible for the development, qualification and implementation of transgene protein, target biomeasure and pharmacodynamic biomarker assays using mass spectrometry in support of discovery and translational projects.

  • Works with group lead or other biomeasure team members and project team members to accomplish goals.

  • Participates in technology development and implementation by exploring new workflows to expand the group's biomarker bioanalytical capabilities.

  • Participate in all phases of laboratory operations including technology evaluations, the development of sample preparation and separation methods, data analysis, interpretation, reporting and follow up discussions with the project teams on utilizing the data in appropriate decision making.

  • Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are carried out according to scientific and ethical standards e.g. responsible for electronic notebook record keeping; QC and peer review of data and reports.

Qualifications

Must Have

  • MS with a Science Degree with have 4 to 7 years of relevant work experience, ideally mostly in industry OR Bs Science field, with 6 years of experience

  • Expertise in development, characterization, and implementation of bioanalytical assays by LCMS and/or LBA. Including deep knowledge of sample preparation procedures for proteins, small molecules, lipids, etc. from a variety of matrices

  • Experience in operation of triple quadrupole and ion trap/orbitrap mass spectrometers and associated control and data analysis software systems.

  • Knowledge of protein biochemistry and proteomics techniques.

Nice To Have

  • Experience in instrument programming in the pursuit of lab automation will be considered.

  • Experience in the preparation of tissue samples for analysis will be considered.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Fully on-site, lab-based position requiring performance of all typical laboratory related activities

  • Based in Andover, Massachusetts with occasional travel to Cambridge (Kendal Square) is required, depending on project needs

Work Location Assignment:On Premise

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,900.00 to $124,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
