Lockheed Martin Senior Software Engineer: Data Management, Linux, Networks in Andover, Massachusetts

Description: At the Advanced Energy Storage division of Lockheed Martin, you will have an opportunity to contribute to the development of energy storage for the future. You will work alongside a team of world-class engineers and scientists, with the backing of a global technology leader known for its history of innovation. You will develop technical solutions supporting the operation of a revolutionary grid-connected flow battery system. As a Software Engineer, you will use your knowledge of software development in Java and Python to contribute to the design of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and data management tools. You will participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from conceptual design to detailed implementation, testing, code release and field support. You will be relied upon for providing engineering support, testing, and debugging of software functional components and subsystems, and documentation of results. You will see your designs evolve from the conceptual stage to detailed implementation to high-volume production.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or other technical discipline

• Strong understanding of software development using Java or Python

• Extensive experience with the Linux operating system

Desired Skills:

• A bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical discipline with 3+ years or a master’s degree with 2+ years of professional experience

• Strong interest in renewable energy

• Experience with HMIs, maintaining and updating data management tools

• Design, administration, and configuration of TCP/IP networks

• Experience with distributed source control tools (Git, Hg) and issue tracking tools (Jira)

• Experience with containerization technology (Docker)

• Experience with Web front-end technologies (TypeScript, JavaScript, Angular, React, CSS)

• Experience with Web API design, specifically REST interfaces

• Experience with database technologies (SQL, Influx)

• Experience with software development for industrial controls

• Familiarity with field buses, especially Modbus

• Strong ability to write test procedures and reports

• Ability and desire to work both independently and as a part of a cross-functional team of software, electrical, control engineers, and technicians

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
