Thrivent Financial Environmental, Health & Safety Supervisor in Appleton, Wisconsin

This position develops and oversees comprehensive occupational safety and emergency preparedness programs for Thrivent’s corporate and remote workforce to mitigate risks and create a culture of safety across the organization. The EHS Supervisor guides management and stakeholder teams to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and corporate rules and regulations pertaining to employee health and safety.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Investigate and analyze all reports of workplace safety hazards, injuries and general liability claims to verify facts, determine root cause, and institute corrective actions to prevent or reduce similar occurrences from taking place.

  • Administers the organization’s worker compensation injury reports, personal liability claims, and facility inspections in conjunction with corporate insurance and outside insurance carrier.

  • Maintain and direct the corporate safety awareness initiative programs for the organization using industry best practices and data driven decisions. This includes administering and maintaining necessary staff training and ensuring completion and review of safety inspections and checks.

  • Research, develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain a comprehensive company emergency operation program for natural disasters such as fire, storms, and floods and for manmade emergencies including major accidents, terrorist activity, and other catastrophic events. This includes ensuring a robust awareness program is in place for all staff and training of onsite life safety teams.

  • Plan, design, execute, and prepare executive summaries for emergency response exercises and training for departmental personnel and corporate facility occupants in conjunction with the business resilience office.

  • Integrates various existing emergency preparedness and operations plans and procedures (pre-disaster, response, and mitigation programs) with appropriate local responding government agencies.

  • Responsible and accountable for the preparation, submission, and documentation of all regulatory environmental and safety reporting requirements.

  • Maintain working relationships with external stakeholders, including being the company point of contact for local/state agencies and insurance carriers.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, risk management, or other business-related field preferred.

  • Previous experience managing a safety, environmental, and disaster preparedness program in an office/warehouse environment (5+ years of relevant experience)

  • Knowledge and understanding of federal and state OH&S regulations, policies, and best practices.

  • OSHA 30-hour general industry training (completed within 1 year of employment)

  • Certified American Heart CPR/First Aid Instructor (completed within 6 months of employment)

  • Certified UST Class AB Operator (completed within 6 months of employment)

  • American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Board or Certified Safety Professional (BCSP), or similar Safety/Disaster Preparedness certification preferred.

This role will need to adapt their communication style and use persuasion for issues that may be complex, or information may be non-routine; build relationships with the following:

Pay Transparency

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $70,737.00 - $95,704.00 per year OR $34.01 - $46.01 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
