Credit Specialist

The Credit Specialist manages an assigned portfolio of accounts, primarily processing payments, monitoring cash flow, and determining financial risk to the company. The Specialist partners with customer, sales, and customer service, as well as with management to keep receivables current. Additionally, the Specialist compiles and analyzes a broad spectrum of account financial and credit data to make credit decisions, negotiate repayment plans, and assist in finding alternative payment solutions as needed in order to keep accounts receivable up to date.

This position is working on a Hybrid model, and requires working in the Appleton, WI office two days per week.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Manages credit activities for assigned customer accounts by receiving and posting payments, requesting payments of delinquent invoices, resolving variances between charges and credits issued, and assisting customers in understanding charges.

  • Evaluates credit worthiness of assigned accounts to determine financial risk to the company, resulting in releasing orders for shipment, delaying or holding future orders, and potentially adjusting credit lines.

  • Fulfills customer’s requests for duplicate invoice copies, shipping papers, proof of delivery or other documents as needed to reconcile accounts.

  • Maintains timely communication with internal departments to ensure prompt payment of delinquent invoices, as it directly impacts cash flow and monthly Day Sales Outstanding for the company.

Skills for Success

Years of Related Professional Experience: 2-3 years of experience. Credit/collections experience preferred.

Educational Position Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent education; Associate’s degree preferred. *Equivalent years of experience in a substantially similar industry may be considered in lieu of a degree to be determined by the nature of the specific job and the hiring manager’s criteria.

  • Proficient PC Skills, strong skills in Microsoft Suite

  • NACM certifications: CAP and ACAP desired

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and time constraints

  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently with a proactive working style

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail

  • Strong math skills needed to reconcile accounting data

  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Financial analysis and collection/customer service experience
