United States Steel Air Separation Unit Electrical Technician, BRS in Arkansas
12972BRJob Description:Objective of the Job:
The Air Separation Unit Electrical Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the equipment at the facility to produce industrial gases used in the Mill. They will provide necessary technical and hands on support to continuously improve plant operations, maintenance, reliability, and cost performance. This will include but is not limited to maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting the following in our highly automated plant:
• Rosemount Transmitters
• Pneumatic and Electronic Valves
• DCS Control Systems
• Allen Bradley PLC Cards and Racks
• Analytical Equipment
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements are followed.
2) Participation in the Safety Process and sharing responsibility for the site’s overall safety performance.
3) Investigating equipment failures, resolving root causes of failures, and recommending appropriate solutions to reduce reoccurrence of/or eliminating causes of failures.
4) Working with internal utility suppliers to assure plant on-stream and reliability.
5) Following Operating procedures and Safety Standards
6) Supporting internal facilities in the area as required.
7) Maintain and repair electrical equipment including but not limited to ABB MCC’s, VFD’s, Soft Starters, and Siemens Semi-code relays
8) HMI Operation for troubleshooting purposes and emergency shutdown execution
Qualifications:
1) A commitment to safety and strong communication skills are a must.
2) High School Diploma/GED.
3) Two years of Instrument and Electronics experience in an industrial plant is preferred, but not required.
4) Two-year associate degree in a technical field a plus, but not required.
5) Military experience is a plus.
6) Strong Electrical and Instrumentation proficiency required.
7) Must be willing to participate in on-call and weekend work as required.
8) Must be a self-starter and willing to work alone as well as in a Team environment.
9) Teammate that is flexible and has a positive attitude.
10) Computer Proficiency required.
11) PLC Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens required.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
The environment is typical for steel mill production areas, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas.
• Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift 50 lbs.
• Will be exposed to high noise levels.
• Be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
• Elevated work required.
