United States Steel Coated Products Combustion Technician, BRS in Arkansas
12936BRJob Description:Objective of the Job:
This position is an industrial electrician responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment in the Coated Products area of Big River Steel facility, including the furnace and combustion equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Oversight of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality programs and where applicable ResponsibleSteel requirements; follow BRS directives and comply with regulatory requirements within scope of responsibility.
2) Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complex electrical equipment, including control circuits, communication systems, I/O field devices, PLC, HMI, transmitters, sensors, burners.
3) Perform and participate in the tunning of the burners of the furnace.
4) Perform and participate in the verification of the calibration of the instruments in the furnace.
5) Perform root cause analysis using the data from the process.
6) Actively participate in continuous improvement activities.
7) Install or modify electrical equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications with minimal instruction after general assignment
8) Use Electrical Ingenuity and Work directly with all mechanics and operations personnel in a fast--paced environment to help develop a safety-focused and productive Coated Products Team. Support maintenance teammates to help maintain a positive and efficient work environment focused on safety and reliability.

1) Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment
2) Quality and detail oriented with strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills
3) Adaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge
4) Reliable team player with good communication skills
5) Highly motivated, proactive, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed
6) Demonstrated proficiency using measuring instruments.
7) Use the IBA Analyzer.
8) Basic computer skills: MS Excel, Word.
9) Able to learn new technology and share the learning with teammates.
10) Read Electrical drawings, blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
11) Knowledgeable of programming and troubleshooting logic to include ladder logic, function block programming. 12) Knowledge about PID controllers.
13) Knowledgeable of PLC, programming, and trouble shooting skills; I.O. systems and design layout; three phase motors and ability to troubleshoot; network infrastructure; basic mechanical components in a mill; basic Hydraulic systems, how they operate and design layout
14) Willing to learn and take on multiple roles, such as mechanical and production positions as well as continually improve on primary skill set
15) HS diploma or equivalent is required; electrical degree or training is preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Environment is typical for a steel mill production areas, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/ greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required in the production environment.
