Objective of the Job

This position is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment in relation to the coil transportation system at the BR2 Steel facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversight of safety, health, environmental and quality programs and “where applicable” Responsible Steel requirements; follow BRS directives and comply with regulatory requirements within scope of responsibility.

  • Coordinate maintenance activities to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complex electrical and mechanical equipment, including PLCs, control circuits, communication systems, I/O field devices, and VFD drives/motors.

  • Coordinate BRS, contractor, and vendor activities to install or modify electrical equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications.

  • Install or modify equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications with minimal instruction after general assignment.

  • Work directly with all maintenance and operations personnel in a fast-paced environment to help develop a safety focused and productive team that supports teammates to help maintain a positive and efficient work environment focused on safety and reliability.

  • Lead the development of a work safety program, PM system, personnel training program, and equipment spares list for the coil logistics group.

    Qualifications

  • Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment.

  • Quality and detail oriented with strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills.

  • Adaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge.

  • Reliable team player with good communication skills.

  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed.

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as an industrial electrician.

  • Read Electrical drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

  • Advanced PLC programing experience. (Allen-Bradley and Siemens preferred)

  • Knowledgeable of VFDs, principle design, programming, and trouble shooting skills; I.O. systems and design layout; three-phase motors and ability to troubleshoot; network infrastructure; basic mechanical components in a mill; basic Hydraulic systems, how they operate and design layout.

  • Willing to learn and take on multiple roles and continually improve on primary skill set.

  • HS diploma or equivalent is required; electrical degree or training is preferred.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    This position works with the construction and operations department and associated areas throughout the facility, which are routinely extreme environments with typical hours during the day but this position, can result in working weekends, holidays and at night to support BRS goals. Ability to work long hours as well as coming in on short notice.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position does not supervise others.
