United States Steel IT Lead Technician, BRS in Arkansas

12642BRJob Description:Objective of the Job:

The employee serves as a lead worker responsible for overseeing the work activities of other Information Technology Technicians and as a senior worker performing information technology technician assignments which are recognized as the most complex.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Oversight of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality programs and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements; follow BRS directives and comply with regulatory requirements within scope of responsibility.

2) Serves as the lead technician for Big River Steel Works; provides first level technical support to users concerning hardware, software, and networking problems. Escalates system problems to senior level technical support staff as necessary.

3) Performs all functions required to install, configure, and test computer software, apps, or upgrades on company owned information technology systems, including company computers, tablets, virtual desktop clients, and connections to the data networks.

4) Installs and maintains all audio/video technology; including but not limited to Clickshare, digital projectors, document cameras, conference room audio, digital signage displays, and other technology used across the business (tablets, stylus pens, clickers, interactive whiteboards).

5) Responds to trouble calls on equipment or applications, diagnoses problems, and provides local or remote testing and support.

6) Communicates with staff, and other support personnel to identify and resolve problems and provides technical advice to technology users.

7) Troubleshoots, installs, and configures PC hardware such as memory, adapter cards, printers, etc. for company owned devices.

8) Provides technical support to departments with special hardware such as audiovisual equipment, and software such as CAD, graphic design, etc.

9) Promotes integration of technology in operations by providing assistance and technical training to staff. Assists with network support issues such as account creation, installation and maintenance of network printers, low level maintenance, management of disk space, etc.

10) Assists with technology planning and implementation including researching hardware and software applications, office design, standards development, and documentation.

11) Evaluates requests for information technology services and assists in the development of proposals for procurement of information systems or services.

12) Coordinates work by scheduling assignments and directing the work of other Information Technology Technicians. 13) Assures the quantity and quality of the workflow by overseeing Information Technology Technicians’ adherence to established methods and procedures.

14) Supervises Information Technology Technician and temporary employees.

15) Performs other related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

1) Associate degree in computer science, data processing, or related field

2) Three to five years of computer support experience, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position

3) Proficiency in Apple’s operating systems, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory and Microsoft Office software such as Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.

4) Familiarity with virtual and remote desktop applications

5) Familiarity with VoIP and Terminal Services

6) Familiarity with a variety of networking and personal computer software

7) Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on computers and peripheral equipment

8) Ability to communicate information to staff and the public in a clear and concise manner

9) Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving up to 30 pounds

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Conditions are those of a typical manufacturing and office environment. Individuals in this position must be able to able to lift and move fragile objects up to 30 pounds. Work may require frequent bending, lifting, a wide range of arm movement, finger and hand dexterity, and may occasionally require climbing and working from ladders or lifting devices. Setup or maintenance of some peripheral equipment may require work in areas with restricted room for movement. Visual identification of equipment, parts, and connections is necessary.
