United States Steel Quality Systems Auditor, BRS in Arkansas

Ensure policies, procedures and all activities are carried out to support BRS goals and objectives at the Site level and in the Product Development and Quality Department as assigned. Understands and supports compliance to the requirements of IATF 16949 and automotive customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality programs and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements; follow BRS directives and comply with regulatory requirements within scope of responsibility.

  • Performs external supplier and internal compliance audits to assure conformance with company procedures, and established standards to included production, laboratory, and support processes.

  • Administers operational aspects of BRS layered and product audit program, participates in audit plan development, MSA, and designs internal audits to comply with established standards and BRS policy.

  • Performs daily review of layered and product audits required by operations and automotive customers.

  • Develops appropriate and well-documented records, including audit schedules, plans, and reports.

  • Conducts presentations to communicate audit direction and results to BRS customers, suppliers, employees, managers, and executives.

  • Assists in monitoring BRS operations and reports to the Quality Manager all plant activities that may have an impact on plant processes and product quality.

  • Trains employees on quality standards and procedures; oversees the work of new auditors

  • Analyzes data and situations to recommend effective solutions to project managers, line managers, and customers; capable of influencing others and guiding timely and effective actions.

  • Analyzes BRS project plans to ensure milestones and delivery requirements are met by all parties

  • Interfaces with Quality Manager for management system upgrades and helps verify process changes are compliant to current procedures and standards, value-added, and effective.

  • Annually audits training plans and job descriptions to ensure employee competency for assigned tasks

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Systems: ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO/IEC 17025, and UL.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience auditing to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, a certified auditor is preferred

  • Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of process flows, control plans, and FMEA

  • Must possess experience organizing, planning, and coordinating work assignments with others to meet project milestones or established completion dates.

  • Possess an ability to work independently to identify issues, analyze data, and develop lasting solutions

  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately report and present findings.

  • Flexible and demonstrates ability to work independently and proactively with all levels of organization.

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or four or more years of progressive manufacturing experience

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Minitab.

  • Experience with the tools and methods used in Lean and Six Sigma is a plus.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to work in office setting with daily tasks in the mill, which could typically involve extreme environments from hot to cold. This position can require long hours, weekend and holiday coverage to support routine responsibilities, working remotely, and travel.
