The Cerner Government Services leadership team continues to grow rapidly as we have expanded our federal client partnerships. For this opportunity we are seeking an experienced communications and engagement strategist that would be responsible for developing and maintaining trusted relationships with local and regional Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) and Military Service Organizations (MSOs) in support of our client site public engagement. This role will act as a Deputy Director of Veteran and Military Family Engagement, working with and supporting the Director. You will work closely with our client communications team and program leadership to develop and oversee the implementation of a client facing, site/regional tailored Veteran Engagement strategy to support the deployment and implementation of VA’s new electronic health record. You will oversee the work of a growing team of Veteran Engagement Officers who will work along-side our client site communications team.
The successful candidate for this job will have expertise in creating and growing relationships within Veteran and Military Services Organizations along with experience working with the government in some capacity. Additionally, you will have strong verbal and written communication skills and analytical and problem-solving ability. We’re also looking for a candidate that has experience in strategic planning, engagement plan creation, and Project Management tools (i.e. Salesforce).

Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration or Communications or related field or equivalent work experience
At least 5 years of business writing or business communications work experience
At least 1 year of people management work experience
Experience within public policy or public engagement
Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance applicable for your position
Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen
At least 5 years of relationship management experience with Veteran Service Organizations or Military Service Organizations
At least 3 years of experience leading teams with a proven track record of success
Experience with the government and/or Veteran’s health benefits
Currently living in or able to relocate to Arlington, VA metro area
Ability to travel up to 30%
