What this looks like:

In this role you may be expected to:

  • Plan for supplier material deliveries, track information on suppliers including replenishment schedules, and monitor packaging quantities and usage.

  • Prepare inventory reports, determine the quantity, and order date for materials needed to meet the master production schedule.

  • Initiate purchase or production requisitions as appropriate.

  • Create and review procedures for distribution and inventory management to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize cost.

  • Ensure purchased material is ordered, shipped and delivered to meet scheduled build requirements while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.

  • Use multiple Caterpillar information systems to track and plan for material, inventory, and shipping.

  • Prepare receiving report and note record shortages and damaged materials. Prepares and/or assembles required shipping documents.

  • Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies and notify appropriate personnel of results or required actions.

  • Analyze product workflow and develops logistics plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory. Creates and reviews procedures for distribution and inventory management.

  • Communicate with suppliers daily to expedite, stop, or change the delivery of materials.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2-year degree (current enrollment in an accredited 4-year college degree program at a Junior-level status is considered equivalent to a 2-year degree) or 2 years of related experience in logistics, inventory management or material planning.

  • Must have intermediate proficiency (Basic skills/knowledge. Capable of functioning independently) in Microsoft Excel

  • At least 2 years of inventory management experience

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Willing and able to sit or stand for prolonged periods

  • Willing and able to perform repetitive operations

  • Willing and able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • At least 2 years of manufacturing experience

  • Supply chain experience

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint

  • Intermediate proficiency in SAP

  • At least 2 years of production planning experience

  • At least 2 years of material planning experience

  • Vendor management experience

Summary Pay Range:

$25.96 - $32.45

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
