Caterpillar is seeking a 1st Shift Quality Manager in Athens Ga. In this role, you will guide a diverse team of Quality Auditors and Fabrication Auditors toward building and maintaining a culture of quality.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Provide guidance and direction for a team that owns and executes quality audits throughout the production processes, Incoming Quality Audits (IQA), CMM lab, and calibrations process.

  • Set budget requirements, cost savings projects, forecasting manpower needs to support production needs and ensuring quality standards are maintained.

  • Develop plans for efficient use of materials, Measurement machines, gages, and manpower to achieve cost, quality, and inventory management target.

  • Ensure proper direction and supervision of activities in assigned area to maintain effective utilization of personnel and machinery to support daily production needs.

  • Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Internal Certification, etc.

  • Promote the development of people through continued education, employee involvement, increased responsibility, driving accountability, and ergonomics.

  • Set goals and assist team in meeting quality goals/standards.

  • Owning the Continuous Improvement process, making sure new ideas are generated, worked, and implemented, and any roadblocks are eliminated.

  • Performing periodic audits for safety behavior, 5S, standard work, productivity, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

  • Driving root cause analysis and resolution on all forms of loss, i.e., safety, quality, velocity.

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Quality Management : Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

  • Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Lean Manufacturing : Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • Direct leadership experience OR experience of proven leadership through projects and initiatives.

  • A working knowledge of quality management systems

  • Project management background

  • Demonstrated focus on people, quality, velocity, and cost.

  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skill along with an understanding of how to leverage LEAN principles toward continuous improvement.

  • O365 advanced skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

  • Previous Quality Leader/Manager experience.

  • Root Cause and Corrective Action experience.

  • Experience Leading Teams > 20 hourly employees.

  • Fabrications experience

The primary location for this position is Athens, GA.

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
