Summary

Performs installation, maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment. Ensures appropriate records are maintained. Safely and efficiently executes daily tasks related to the maintenance of Equipment for the production of Absorbable & Non-Absorbable, molded, and Needle manufacturing materials in an FDA-regulated environment. Typical tasks include Preventive Maintenance to equipment including the troubleshooting and repair of components, oil changes, testing, installing, and the removal of equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Under general direction, and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

  • Maintains manufacturing equipment which may include mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.

  • Assists with the installation, setups and changeovers of machinery.

  • Tests and makes adjustments as needed.

  • Makes routine repairs to malfunctioning equipment.

  • Assists in the Implementation of process improvements.

  • Updates required documentation including maintenance and repair logs.

  • Assists with trouble report preparation for malfunctioning equipment.

  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Applies safety procedures to all work.

  • Orders parts and supplies occasionally in accordance with department procedures.

  • Set-up, repair, trouble-shoot, maintain and replace parts of production equipment such as: braiders, sipp machine, hacoba, hot stretch, inspection tables, skeiners, waxers, anneal ovens, coating lines, bulk spoolers, and tube winders.

  • Make adjustments, grease, and clean equipment, as required.

  • Perform cleaning of assigned moisture meters.

  • Perform cleaning of assigned anneal ovens.

  • Assist in transport of raw materials, supplies and equipment to and from departments as needed.

  • Monitor the braiders on a continuous basis to ensure they are producing the best possible quality product, repair all braiders flagged.

  • Detect, troubleshoot, and resolve quality problems.

  • Document Maintenance/Preventive Maintenance on all equipment per the Preventive Maintenance System.

  • Perform assigned Preventive Maintenance procedures.

  • Perform wax changes as required.

  • Cross train on other jobs within the department and perform those jobs when required.

  • Serve as backup for set-up and doffing associates, if cross-trained.

  • Install or adjust braider guarding.

  • Complete logbooks and other related forms using Good Documentation Practices.

  • Use test equipment (StarettGauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, Microscope, etc) where applicable.

  • Utilize applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g. ComplianceWire, ADAPTIV, etc.)

  • Consistently meet required work performance targets (RE’s), if applicable

  • Support LEAN and Six Sigma Initiatives.

  • Support Maintenance Excellence (ME2) including 6S and Operator Asset Care.

  • Accurately complete records as defined within the job procedures (e.g. manual and/or electronic documentation.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Consistently meet required Training due date targets.

  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level

  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Performs other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications

  • Generally, Requires 0-2 Years Work Experience

  • High school education, G.E.D. or equivalent skills, experience, or training.

  • Experience in analytical problem solving and troubleshooting of equipment.

  • Previous mechanical work experience or vocational training of mechanical nature required.

  • Attend specialized training classes on repair, maintenance, and analytical trouble shooting when required by position.

  • Computer and database management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills.

  • Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages.

  • General knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
