HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
The Accountant, Inventory Control is responsible for the US Retail (eCommerce & stores) Inventory financial close. This individual owns the validation, posting, and reporting of US Retail inventory. The Accountant, Inventory Control is also responsible for ensuring high inventory accuracy by budgeting, forecasting and analyzing data, understanding gaps, and developing insights. This individual supports the interim and annual Retail store physical inventories and partners cross-functionally to support the business and ensure a sound control environment. This role reports to the Supervisor, Global Inventory and is based in our Buckhead office in our hybrid work environment.
60%: Accounting & Controls
? Validate, analyze, and review US Retail inventory perpetual inventory, processes and transactions, including but not limited to receipts, transfers, inventory adjustments, shrink and stock ledger COGS.
? Prepare, validate, and post all inventory journal entries.
? Ensure all inventory adjustments are booked according to Company policy, GAAP and recognized in the correct period.
? Prepare lower of cost or market quarterly calculations and analysis. Partner with Retail Planning team to understand current business and validate calculations.
? Ensure intercompany transactions are appropriately recorded monthly, inclusive of variance analysis between Wholesale and Retail Operations.
? Prepare financial month-end on-hand inventory reconciliations for 700+ retail stores.
? Prepare month-end shrink reserve analysis by store.
? Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations for all retail inventory accounts.
? Prepare Retail Inventory roll-forwards by standard business unit and brand.
? Ensure closing calendar timelines are met for all tasks, effectively communicating any issues.
? Review vendor payments for shipments made direct to retail stores and prepare month end journal entries for outstanding amounts.
? Maintain store master data including attributes, open/close/comp dates, store format, etc.
? Partner closely with IT business partners to coordinate and implement finance system initiatives to meet business needs. Ensure all inventory systems process inventory transactions properly and are in balance.
? Ownership of internal controls related to retail inventory.
? Ensure units and costs within the inventory system are in agreement with source systems, i.e., Omnia, Sterling OMS, and Sales Audit.
? Provide support to internal and external audit groups during financial and SOX audits.
? Partner with the business to streamline processes and increase financial controls to ensure financial integrity.
15%: Budgeting, Forecasting, & Analysis
? Support the annual budget for retail store inventory expenses.
? Continually monitor monthly results vs. budget/forecast and review variance. Provide risks and opportunities to financial planning team weekly.
? Provide explanations for significant variances to budget/forecast on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
? Responsible for quarterly retail inventory reserve reporting package.
? Develop and implement recommendations for improvement based on fact-based analytics.
? Prepare ad hoc analysis for management.
15%: Physical Inventory
? Support the interim and annual physical inventory count processes; coordinate and communicate with the Retail teams and the third-party technology provider to ensure accuracy of count processes.
? Prepare reconciliations and analysis of physical inventory count processes (e.g., actual vs. budget, highest shrink volume UPCs, store shrink ratings, etc.)
? Develop recommendations for enhancing controls around shrink.
10%: Cross Functional Collaboration & Partnership
? Significant partnership with IT, Planning & Allocations, Operations, Omni-Channel, FP&A, Asset Protection, and Sales Audit.
? Liaison with our inventory software provider.
? Support teams with inventory accounting treatment/impact.

Must have:
? Bachelor’s degree from accredited 4-year institution required in Accounting or Finance.
? Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
? Highly analytical with proven ability to proactively leverage data to improve business operations.
? Strong critical thinking skills including decision making, time management, and task prioritization.
? Detail oriented, able to work independently or within a team environment.
? Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities; time management and task prioritization are key.
? Builds strong working relationships with internal and external partners and cross functional teams.
? Provides high quality support to internal and external customers through correct and clear communication.
? Intermediate Excel skills.

? Retail store experience.
? Exhibits strong communication skills, verbal and written.

? Demonstrates dependability and positive attitude.
? Experience working in reporting systems and ability to learn new systems as needed.
? Retail/wholesale inventory experience preferred.
