UPS Ops Excellence Supervisor in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Summary

This position supports and is part of the Small Package Industrial Engineering function to ensure it meets and exceeds customer service/quality objectives. The incumbent assists with the development, assessment, and alignment of service goals with company objectives and customer facing information. This role supports the implementation of training activities and provides operational support. This position analyzes performance metrics and ensures service processes/procedures align with business objectives, including gathering performance trend data and determining improvement areas where appropriate.


  • Develops and maintains monthly performance goals to track and evaluate service objectives

  • Assists in the development of the UPS Industrial Engineering operations balanced scorecard elements to align with corporate strategies

  • Analyzes, maintains, and updates Operational Excellence databases to ensure the availability of UPS Small Package IE best practices and service trends for department personnel

  • Ensures consistency of Operational Database data, measurements, and KPI’s to customer facing data platforms

  • Prepares Industrial Engineering staff meeting reports to ensure timely documentation

  • Assists the development of Business Quality Assessment audits to measure customer service performance

  • Provides regional support for training (e.g., Quality Improvement Process) to ensure training activities support department and business objectives

  • Gathers necessary data and assists with data analysis to develop OE methodologies

  • Conducts audits as needed to identify areas or processes that are out of compliance

  • Identifies and records non-compliance exceptions, reviews records and works with operations management to develop action plans that address all non-compliance exceptions

  • Verifies implemented changes

  • Assists with operations forecasting, including reviewing research, trends, projected growth rates, etc. to inform staffing recommendations

  • Develops reports and maintains reference documents


  • Possesses excellent communication skills and ability to work on cross functional teams

  • Understands UPS Package, Hub and Feeder operations

  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field

  • Willing to travel, as needed

  • Demonstrates intermediate/advanced experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Power BI)

  • Experience working with databases and data warehouses, (SQL Server, Oracle, Azure, AWS)

  • Experience applying data analytics for long term forecasting and ad hoc reporting
