This family of products is branded MineStar. The MineStar product range links with other mining and business information systems. MineStar Solutions utilizes leading technology hardware and has a strong software development center of expertise. It continues to enhance its capability in the areas of implementation, consultancy, and customer support.

As a Mining Technology Area Manager, you will lead, direct, and further develop the people, dealers, strategies, financials, and operations of the CAT Mining Technology business in a specific marketing region to increase sales and ensure the financial viability and profitability of the business.

What you will do:

Provides overall leadership and direction for business development and retail sales and management within the dealers to ensure the business continues to educate the marketplace, develop strong brand awareness, and increase sales of all mining technology products MineStar Fleet, MineStar Edge, MineStar Command, MineStar Detect, and MineStar Terrain for surface and underground mining.

Business plans and forecasts: Work with dealers in the region to establish the annual business plan and evaluate monthly progress against sales targets and major opportunities. Evaluate major account opportunities with mining account managers toward establishing and coordinating account pursuit strategies. Determine the unique Territory requirements amongst the region and establish appropriate dealer and market development plans. Evaluate each dealer’s capability to market, sell, and support the technology products. Establish training requirements and organize required training with the product support group.

Lead Mining Technology Leadership Table Business Cases with dealers in the region to drive MineStar Solutions sales growth. Align business priorities and needed changes with senior leaders at the dealership and develop and implement Leadership Table Business Cases to drive the needed growth. Govern the Leadership Table Business case to ensure timely execution of planned outcomes.

As a direct interface with customers, this role also provides Market Awareness to the enterprise. In addition to forecasts, customer trends, and competitive actions are examples of relevant information to the rest of the enterprise. Additionally, the collection of specific VOC can be provided or supplemented by request through the respective MineStar commercial teams.

Often works directly with large end-user customers (major global mining companies). This is done by working closely with Caterpillar’s Global Mining Account Managers along with Caterpillar dealers.

Manage P&L expectations for the business unit and make commercial decisions related to the region and position. Ensure that accounting and business processes are sound and managed.

Oversee the performance and development of staff to ensure their personal and professional development needs are met, and that the business has the necessary mix of skills, knowledge, experience, and capabilities to meet current and future objectives.

Presales support: Provide deep-level product expertise to dealers to assist in responding to client requirements and requests for proposals (RFPs). Evaluate customer requirements relative to product capability. Identify any functional failings and liaise with the product group and NPI to establish appropriate RFP responses. On-going work with NPI to chart and justify new product development in response to requirements stated in client RFPs.

Manage pricing, contracts, and legal agreements between Cat dealers and customers. Explain and negotiate the associated pricing, contracts, and legal agreements between all parties.

Develop high-level relationships and contacts with key industry players at a local, national, and international level to facilitate business development and promote the MineStar Solutions business.

Develop and implement appropriate strategies to educate the existing Caterpillar Dealer Network and encourage them to promote and sell the MineStar technology product range to leverage existing relationships and identify potential clients.

Promote and represent the interests of MineStar both internally through participation in management meetings and wider Caterpillar group forums and externally through promotions and meetings with existing and potential customers and industry representatives.

Degree and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

5 plus years of experience in the mining industry with thorough knowledge of mining applications.

Prior experience as a sales representative or sales manager.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

Previous Experience working with Caterpillar’s North American dealers.

Strong mining product and application background.

Proficient with Salesforce CRM.

Understanding of the MineStar technology suite.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Strong business acumen.

Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

Proven leadership capabilities.

Capable of connecting the core value propositions of mining technology with operational applications and also be able to translate these into financial benefit terms.

The location for this position is Tucson, Denver, CO, Mossville, IL, Aurora, IL, Miami, FL, or Dallas, TX.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position will require 75 % travel.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary for this role ranges from $146,000 to $220,000. The actual salary will be based on experience. The total reward package, beyond base salary, includes:

Summary Pay Range:

$146,976.00 - $220,464.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
