Hyatt seeks an enthusiastic Hospitality Designer to join our Lifestyle Group where you will be part of a team of professionals who love what they do. The Role

Reporting to the Head of Design (Bunkhouse & JdV), the Hospitality Designer is responsible for assisting the VP of Design in all things design related for the properties. This includes managing small refresh projects to major remodels, furniture design, art procurement, keeping the design department organized, vendor management, the planning and execution of cap ex purchases and construction projects at all properties, overseeing the FF&E process and execution at new properties and ordering & returning samples and purchasing.

Qualifications:

The person in this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of company policies. Furthermore, all Design team members must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values, and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors, and partners.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction.

  • Establish and maintain liaison as required with all properties, committees and employees.

  • Review and asses vendor proposals.

  • Direct the activities of on-site and off-site consultants.

  • Assist in preparing preliminary construction and FF&E estimates, bid requests, de-scope, and proposals for small projects at properties.

  • Support the Chief Creative Officer and Design Director in daily tasks.

  • Coordinate small projects for Bunkhouse properties.

  • Maintain materials library & resource catalogs.

  • Maintain project binders and folders.

  • Assist VP of Design in project meeting schedules, agendas & minutes.

  • Assist VP of Design in project travel schedules & arrangements.

  • Responsible for design boards and image research.

  • Responsible for placing supply and sample orders.

  • Responsible for presentations.

  • Organize the Bunkhouse digital photo library and maintaining presentation archives.

  • Responsible for product and materials sourcing.

  • Purchase FF&E and OS&E.

  • Act as a liaison between vendors, properties, and Design Director

  • Maintain project budgets & invoices.

  • Ensure open lines of communication with staff, all departments and upper management at all times via email, log books, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the company are met.

Qualifications

Experience Required

  • MS, BFA or BS in interior design or architecture with excellent design skills preferred, but not required.

  • A minimum of five (5) years related experience in hospitality design industry or architecture/interior design.

  • Must have direct experience in managing multiple projects, clients, and/or complex consultant relationships.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff

  • Ability to create documents in Excel and Word.

  • Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Design, Mac programs, InDesign, Autocad, Sketch Up, BIM, and BlueBeam).

  • Ability to apply concepts of math including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and algebra, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Rendering skills for interior elevations, plans, finishes and furniture.
