Neuromodulation

Our Neuromodulation business includes implantable devices compatible with mobile technology to help people who suffer from chronic pain and movement disorders. These non-opioid therapies allow us to provide interventional pain therapy to patients throughout the pain continuum.

The Opportunity

The Senior Manager Contracts & Pricing for Abbott Neuromodulation is based in Austin, TX and responsible for developing pricing strategies to support division revenue, market share, and margin goals; drive pricing-related and contract administration process improvement and execution; and collaborate across the organization to influence change. This is an impactful, dynamic, and high visibility position that will materially impact the business. This individual will directly support sales leadership and be responsible for coordination and delivery of executive level requests and key business initiatives. This role reports to the US Commercial Controller, manages a team of seven (7) and requires use of appropriate concepts and techniques combined with general business knowledge to identify risks/opportunities and propose solutions.

What You’ll Work On

  • Develop value-based pricing strategies with emphasis on gross margin improvement and market share gains.

  • Introduce and pilot innovative pricing models, leveraging best practices and learnings from healthcare and other industries.

  • Function as key business partner and provide internal consultative services for DVP US Sales and multiple Area Vice Presidents and assist them in day-to-day and strategic pricing decisions.

  • Design and refine pricing policies and governance mechanisms to ensure effective execution and pricing discipline, including price uplifts and price exceptions.

  • Draft and approve contract language including bids, RFPs, and other agreements, and clearly communicate terms with internal and external partners.

  • Conduct retrospective and prospective performance analyses and reporting against key pricing/contract management performance indicators and metrics.

  • Contribute to development of pricing playbooks, guidelines, and training.

  • Provide input on pricing and contracting systems and tools development.

  • Administer execution of contracting process ensuring proper documentation, approvals, audit, and compliance requirements are met.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Sales Training, Health Economics, Enterprise Accounts, Finance, R&D, GMI (Gross Margin Initiative), and other functions.

  • Quickly analyze detailed data sets and condense into focused content for effective decision making.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for continued improvement and simplification of business processes.

  • Coach and develop team members to prepare them for future career growth opportunities.

  • Present regularly to executive leadership.

Accountability

  • Ensures appropriate integrity and reasonableness of financial data as well as compliance with Corporate/Division financial, legal and compliance policies and procedures, and understanding of GAAP.

  • Responsible for adherence to Abbott accounting policies and procedures (CFMs) and all OEC and Legal policies and procedures.

  • Provide ongoing business support and fully support achievement of financial plans, goals and objectives.

  • Seek guidance and deliver proposed solutions on issues outside of normal scope.

  • Very organized with good interpersonal, communication, and presentations skills.

  • Oversee projects with significant interface across functions and groups.

  • Balance demands of a variety of customers with potentially conflicting goals.

  • Meet deadlines and balance workload requirements.

  • Accountable for meeting critical project deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in accounting or finance.

  • 10+ years of experience in Contracts, Pricing or related fields.

  • Exceptional knowledge of pricing and contracting best-in class models, processes, techniques, and tools.

  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, including ability to model revenue and margin impact of pricing and contract terms.

  • Direct experience partnering closely with commercial teams at a medical device or healthcare company.

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced, demanding, and changing environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization, including presenting to senior management.

  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.

  • Ability to travel, approximately 10%.

The base pay for this position is $125,300.00 – $250,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
