Fresenius Medical Care North America Dialysis Patient Care Technician - PCT CCHT Regional Lead WUS Float Pool in Avondale, Arizona

POSITION FEATURES:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Supports the delivery of hemodialysis clinical care to patients by providing direction, guidance and support to facility Patient Care Technicians in an assigned area under the supervision of the Clinical Manager or a designated Registered Nurse. Acts as a resource and subject matter expert as part of the hemodialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with FMCNA policies, procedures, and training and in compliance with regulations set forth by the corporation, state, and federal agencies. Acts as the liaison between Patient Care Technicians and management in the region/area to be covered.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides general direction, guidance and feedback based upon professional standards and FMCNA guidelines to support PCTs within the assigned area in achieving the desired outcomes in the following: patient experience, quality, teamwork, clinic culture, and employee satisfaction.

  • Provides communication and supports training required for facility to meet clinical competencies, policies and procedures individually and/or through regional/area meetings. Supports the implementation of FMCNA continuing education training opportunities to enhance the practice of all PCT's.

  • Provides coaching and developmental support to applicable clinical and facility staff.

  • Supports the regional educational team in orientation and training of all new PCTs and PCT III's within the assigned region/area with the assistance of Clinical Managers, Facility Dietitians, Social Workers and other disciplines.

  • Collaborate and communicate with Clinical Educator when providing support or mentoring to new employee or PCT III.

  • Acts in a support role of FMS quality outcomes within the assigned region/area and supports the execution of quality assessment and performance improvement projects, in relation to PCT involvement, to achieve standards identified in CMS Conditions for Coverage and FMS quality program requirements

  • Attends and participates in regional, area, and team meetings as appropriate which may include quality team building and staff development. Collaborates with regional management staff as needed to achieve effective inter-disciplinary and intra-disciplinary relationships.

  • Collaborates with PCT IIIs, Clinical Manager, Directors of Operations, and other Lead PCTs to assist with projects, design interventions and improve standardized operating procedures.

  • Works with clinical and area management to ensure PCT III coverage, responsibility, and availability for dialysis facilities within the assigned region/area during times of leave of absences, vacations, and vacancies.

  • Collaborates with clinics, the education department, and area management to improve the retention of PCT staff and may participate on the PCT Advisory Council and in new Patient Care Technician job shadow interviews.

  • May provide input for PCT III staff regarding formal performance evaluations or performance throughout the year.

  • Maintains and improves knowledge and skills for a competent and innovative practice.

  • May travel to hot spot clinics to work with staff and management to determine actions and recommendations to reinforce and support clinical practice according to policy & procedure to improve quality, performance, engagement and retention.

  • Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean working environment.

  • Supports the FMCNA commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and CQI Activities, including those related to patient satisfaction and actively participates in process improvement activities that enhance the likelihood that patients will achieve the FMC Quality Enhancement Goals (QEP).

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Day to day work includes desk and personal computer work and interaction with patients, facility staff and physicians. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.

  • The position requires travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community. Travel to Regional, Division and Corporate meetings may be required.

  • The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. Employee may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.

SUPERVISION :

  • None

EDUCATION/LICENSURE :

  • Certified Hemodialysis Technician

  • Current state licensure, if applicable

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • 3-5 years dialysis experience.

  • Current PCT III.

  • Basic computer skills required.

  • Demonstrates moderate leadership competencies and skills for the position, including ability to support and reinforce training strong organizational skills, excellent communication, customer service, relationship development, results orientation, team building and decision making.

  • Maintains professional demeanor and presentation.

  • Ability to work under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse taking the initiative to develop projects, motivate other team members, and gain support and input from team members in an unstructured environment.
