Job Description

We are hiring a Logistics Supervisorfor our Baltimore/Curtis Bay, MD Plant, working a M-F, day schedule. Reporting directly to the Site Logistics, Shipping & Receiving Manager, this position will oversee and manage the logistics and warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and effective execution of all logistics processes. Employees at our site are accountable for environmental, health, and safety compliance, including emergency preparedness and response as per site-wide policies.

The Curtis Bay plant, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is W. R. Grace’s largest manufacturing site. Operational since the early 1900s, this facility spans approximately 260 acres and employs around 700 people. The plant produces a variety of chemical products, including fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts, hydroprocessing catalysts, polyolefin catalysts, and silicas. These products are essential in industries such as fuel, plastics, food, beverages, biofuels, coatings, and pharmaceuticals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all shipping, receiving, and distribution operations.

  • Work closely with carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely delivery of goods.

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, customer service, and cost savings.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Monitor inventory levels, adjusting ordering and storage as necessary.

  • Track order fulfillment, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

  • Supervise warehouse staff, coordinating scheduling, and managing productivity and performance.

  • Maintain and report records on warehouse operations and productivity.

  • Ensure health and safety compliance through daily inspections and adherence to standards.

  • Communicate effectively with other departments and customers.

  • Ensure proper loading and unloading of all trucks.

  • Schedule and coordinate inbound deliveries with purchasing.

  • Verify accuracy of shipping documents and purchase order receipts.

  • Maintain proper storage of components in designated locations.

  • Train employees in processes and standards, ensuring cross-training for development.

  • Enforce safety guidelines, GMP requirements, and company policies.

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.

  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing

  • Strong safety knowledge and adherence to regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline

  • Supervisor experience preferably in a union environment

  • SAP experience

  • Experience in logistics and supply chain management

  • Familiarity with hazardous or dangerous goods handling

  • DOT certification

  • IMDG and IATA knowledge a plus
