Job Description
W.R. Grace is seeking a Technician Specialist to join the Analytical Services Center (ASC). This role reports to the Laboratory Chemist at the ASC in Curtis Bay/Baltimore, MD. As a Technician Specialist and a member of a team, you will be required to a rotating shift schedule that consists of 8-hour shifts, 5 days a week. Shifts may vary between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Overtime may be required, however expected to be minimal.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills with knowledge in basic chemistry, math, and computers.
Assists engineers and scientists with a variety of laboratory tasks
Performs chemical analyses and scientific tests using both routine and nonroutine techniques in compliance with all safety standards
Collects, analyzes and processes laboratory samples
Records results of tests, organizes data, performs basic computations, and prepares reports and analyzes using standard procedures and guidelines
Operates, maintains and makes basic repairs on laboratory test equipment, apparatus, systems and supplies.
Provides technical support to customers
Provides a basic level of product knowledge, assists in trouble shooting, basic start up and proper application
Strong written and oral communication skills along with computer experience are important.
Has basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process.

Physical Requirements and Environment
Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
Required Qualifications
High School education or equivalent (GED)
Will typically have at least 2-4 years related technical experience if High school education
Will typically have at least 0-2 years related technical experience if BS in related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years (2) of college level course work in related field
